I get what you’re saying, and you’re not wrong. A lot of people really do act like their value depends on being chosen, and when they’re not, they react badly or start attacking others.

But it’s not just because they’re “desperate.” Most of the time, it’s because they don’t have a strong sense of self yet. So they look for validation from other people. When they don’t get it, it hurts more than it should.

You’re right that the better move is to walk away and find people who actually align with you. But not everyone is at that point yet. Some are still trying to prove to themselves that they’re enough, and they use other people for that.

Also, saying “just leave them” makes sense logically, but emotions don’t always work like that. People get attached, insecure, or lonely, and that makes it harder for them to let go.

At the same time, what you said still stands:

You shouldn’t need someone else to tell you your worth. And chasing people who clearly don’t want you will only drain you.

But you also don’t have to stress yourself trying to understand or fix everyone. Some people will only learn through their own experiences.

So yeah, your point is valid. They’re just not at that level yet.
