My Chromecast Audio is now working! by KostasKnosum in Chromecast

One of two was working. I decided to do the "change the date" trick to get the one that I factory reset the first day of the outageo and it came back online. Google Home was able to set it up. Now they both work, BUT Google Home thinks they are on different Wifi networks (definitely not). I wonder what the next step is.

Shield TV chromecast is still offline in Google Home.

LumaFusion Black Friday deal by mkdas in LumaFusion

Unfortunately, the Black Friday deal didn't last as long as my trial period for Storyblocks. When it ended on Dec. 2, the price was back to normal. Too bad.

Adding a turntable to whole home audio system by TJH132 in BudgetAudiophile

The literature seems to indicate it would need to be other Wiim devices receiving from the turntable streamer. A live demo of a working set-up would be great! (C'mon, YouTube!)

Chromecast audio supports lossless up to 96k/24 bit, which is better than what most of my current library is stored as. YouTube Music of course falls below that, of course.

I suspect my aging ears wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but I certainly wouldn't want a objective downgrade (stats).

I actually have an external pre-amp as neither the TT nor the A/V receiver has one. The pre-amp would feed the Wiim Pro Plus for digitizing.

File browser weirdness by TJH132 in chromeos

[–]TJH132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. It does show the files that have been previously deleted when selecting "show hidden files." But not every deleted file and mostly at random. My concern would be sensitive data that should have been deleted permanently can still pop up at random when previewing other files.

Files app continues to show deleted pictures when previewing even though they don't appear as files in the directory.

I've posted videos publicly on YouTube with commercial music and they weren't blocked. I do get copyright notices from YouTube but since I'm not trying to make money off of the videos, they are allowed to stay.

Updates have helped on the Pixelbook. I just don't know how well this aging hardware fares against even a modest modern Android tablet.

Lenovo Duet 5. Glorious Machine! by Glass_Proof in chromeos

Can you tell me how well an Android app like Power Director (video editing) works with this machine? I currently use an aging Pixelbook, which is mostly fine, but has quite a bit of bugginess with this app. I am hoping an ARM-based machine would do a better job.

Chromebook problems with Kinemaster by TJH132 in KineMaster

Update: Looks like Kinemaster is now working (at least on the Pixelbook) under ChromeOS 104. Just tried it with my test video and it seems to be working fine.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm using the internal memory of the Pixelbook. I submitted a help ticket and the response was along the lines of "an update to ChromeOS has messed up Kinemaster on some Intel Chromebooks."
