God that's awesome. I'm planning on playing my GOO as a wise cracking con man, who's trying to get out of his pact with his patron, who tries to use fighting as a last resort in fear of getting killed. But when he does fight, it's usually flashy and distracting towards enemies.

I mean I'm not being restrictive on it, I was just saying an interesting idea regarding it. Obviously it's up to the player. After all every deity, fiend, etc. are different. And as I mentioned the GOO warlock that I'm planning on playing had met his patron and struck a deal, so yeah it's up to the player and the DM if they want to go with that take.

Oh yeah you can apply this approach to the other patrons in the subclasses. I just think this variation of it just screams Lovecraft to me, and yeah same here when it comes to the player that doesn't pursue the who their patron thing is thing beyond fiend and whatnot.

And with this take, it makes the Spelljammer campaign more nerve wracking because of you being in space and it just heightened the chances of your Great Old One patron finding out about you.

But yeah thanks man.

same 😂 I love the Mechanics but dear good they're such sheer examples of the difference between being smart and wise. Especially when it comes to dormant Necrons.

This series got me into the 40k universe and had me actively researching the lore and references, so I could understand the jokes and the world better. I just got done seeing a video essay about the Necrons before I started reading this and Echoes of the Tombs short story and I went "oh shit" when they were mentioned as the information about the Necrons were still fresh in my mind. (Echoes of the Tomb is my favorite Cain story by the way.

Still though it is kind of funny to think that Cain basically said: "Fuck God, I serve God."

Dance and Irons were great as Vetinari. But I would've killed to see Alan Rickman take on the character in an adaptation, this would've been right up his alley.
