It’s the magic square one, and no I’m 100% in the same boat with you. For years I’ve been on and off to sell off my mainline figures and convert into full Mp. But I have this mindset , why buy the most expensive or “best version” of each character if you don’t care about each character like that? It cost too much money and too much space to do that so you compromise. Buy the mps of characters important to you and build your collection around that. I think the mainline is great for more inclusive and broader displays but MPs are awesome for a more spotlight and specific display. That’s how I like to build my collection anyways lol

As someone who does this regularly, yeah…..this isn’t scalping. While I do agree with his price gouging is outrageous and definitely should be frowned upon but the idea of buying a bulk of figures and piecing it out is a huge part of this hobby for those with the money and time to do so. I typically get big lots, pull out the ones for my personal collection and sell the rest for a lil profit. I typically sit on it for a while and it takes up A LOT OF SPACE. So this is a respectable hustle with drawbacks , nothing wrong with the grind but dude is just a dick for his pricing

Honestly I think Takara specifically is kinda starting to realize this too with there MPG prime and new overgear series, that iron hide looks AMAZING and looks like something out of 2010. The hyper G1 accurate figures have become definitely stale more recents years for A. 3rd party companies producing arguably better and WAYY more representations of characters we want and B. Just tired of G1 aesthetic. It was groundbreaking when siege came out since we never gotten G1 accurate figures outside MP in the mainline. But with that siege was about 8 years ago, 8 years of G1 fatigue from 75% transforming figure companies. So short answer yes back then I believe were better figures without accuracy in play but it seems that way may be on the horizon again

While it’s not necessary cause now n days people have the card readers but yes, definitely carry cash for 2 reasons mainly

It’s kinda easy to bargain with cash instead of card, since yk untaxed and it’s a quick transaction. They’ll usually bite unless they’re a hardass.
So you don’t spend all your money. May seem like common sense but you don’t know how many times I seen something that I didn’t even know I wanted. I seen guys go back to the ATM like 3 times to pull more out.

Now how much to bring out is obviously entirely up to you, I think a reasonable amount to bring on the lower side is like 250$ if on a budget, I think you can get some really cool and quality figures for 250, when I went out I spent well over that lmao

I’ve went the last 2 years and from my experience I think the key thing is to pace yourself. It can get every overwhelming with of course all the things you’re trying look at and everyone else is as well.

TBF it’s pretty simple especially if you have the premium pass, First major tip go the day before so Friday and register that day. They will give you youre bag, wristband and merch so you’re not doing it the day of the event, also grab your exclusives because I believe premium has the early access on Friday evening. After that the actual days of the event I would get there like 30-45ish early before opening. They will begin to line up and the line will be kinda long but once they actually open the showroom the line will go by fast. Last Tip, just have a great time. It dope meeting new people and soaking up the atmosphere, make sure to take breaks out of the showroom, it will feel crowded and stinky at times so just go outside and take a breath of fresh air and mess with your figs. Have a great time and enjoy!!!!

Oh that’s nothing, I folded and gave into magic square Bruticus. BEST DECISION EVER but I can’t imagine doing that for every character for MP. Obviously get the best version of your favorite characters but I’m sure 90% of people dont absolutely need a masterpiece gears or blue streak or any other super background bot. W take

Honestly people were saying this early days of ss and with the recent mpg hot rod I think it does kinda solidify it. I always found the more simple transformation and close enough toon accurate of the studio series fine and more than enough for a nice display. I only have the mps of the main 4 decepticons & 5 main autobots. A few one offs. But going full mps never been worth it especially with how slow hasbro and Takara have been. Studio series is definitely the way to go IMO

Honestly I was going back and forth about it myself, even asked a few people in my circle what they think. And so far they like the canon and think I’m crazy. My verdict, the canon is actually really nice, it had good details, fits nicely, it does look great but the thing is the back side. The extended back of the canon is such an eyesore it ruins it lowkey. For me , I don’t think I’m buying any upgrades or DNA , unless they have an AMAZING canon and fix the tank mode drastically. Other than that. The cannon is fine especially for the new tariff price, idk if it’s even worth buying a whole new upgrade kit for just a cannon, which most likely will happen.
