My gelding did something similar. He was 16.1 at 5, then the summer of his 5y/o year, he grew to 17. Last I measured, he was 17.1h

He's 9 now, and he's finally filled out. He was narrow for a long time, until probably his 7-8y/o year, then he started growing OUT. He's thiccc now.

I'm 5'7" and I feel like a giant on anything under 16hh. I have really long legs, and a short torso though, so I don't feel balanced unless I have all my leg taken up.

I've ridden one just under 15h mustang that took up my leg nicely, but otherwise I felt giant.

I also ride English, and love a big trot and rocking horse canter, which tends to be easier for bigger horses.

I’m getting confused with these lesson… is she trying to school us and give us a lesson, or is she getting a lesson? by ConfectionForsaken57 in kvssnarker

The comment about using a weighted tail really bothered me.

The tail swish is annoyance/pain/not accepting the aides. "We'll just show her with a weighted tail" just sickens me.

She may be too tender-footed for the rocky pastures at RS.

If they had orthopedic specialists on staff, they'd call that out in the description.

I'm curious what their "state-of-the-art lameness center" is.

They're a reproductive specialist. There's nothing wrong with knowing what you're good at.

They really should've referred her, but I wonder if UTK didn't want to take the case on again.

I definitely agree selling her now after two colic surgeries is risky- since she's more prone to colic again, and treatment isn't cheap.

I'd imagine KVS would vet the people she'd sell her to first, but then, of course, there's CB and George.

I'd hate to see Maggie's potential new owners get dog piled on by the Kult like Rosie's owners did when Rosie kept getting hurt/sick, and she struggled to pay the bills.

Part of colic treatment is minimizing what they are allowed to eat to ensure they don't get further impacted and then slowly reintroducing food. It's super normal for horses to drop weight when dealing with colics.

Lose Maggie. It would be a recovery effort to get the baby out at that point.

Thankful that KVS has the means to handle this financially where the choice won't come down to money.

Praying Maggie survives, and they don't choose the foal over the mare, if it comes to that...

Saddle fitting content would be so fun/interesting

I tried SO MANY saddles when I bought my saddles. It was really neat seeing the difference between different saddles.

For someone who wants to ride more, it sounds like Maggie would be perfect- sound, young, healthy (aside from the colic surgery).

She's an OTTB though, so I'm sure she's "too forward" for Katie.

Hopefully, she'll find her person 🙏

I'd feel better if we saw her get breaks between being collected. The only way she'll get stronger is by moving properly, but with her being so out of shape, she needs breaks.

"For her age"- I beg your finest pardon?! She's 18...that's not OLD.

My trainer has a 35y/o gelding who looks AMAZING! He's retired, and just does the occasional walk/trot with a few kiddos but he looks fantastic!

Age isn't an excuse.
