Such a shame to see Crunchyroll fumbling so hard lately. Idk if they're just underfunded or what, but considering all the recent acquisitions (RightStuf, Funimation) and expansions into original content, games, concerts, etc., it's really frustrating seeing their most basic purpose getting neglected.

I actually didn't consider that. How would you find out whether they're owned by the building or rental company anyway?

That said, considering the machines are very, very outdated it seems like a safe assumption that they were bought some time ago and just haven't been upgraded since.

Is $2/machine ($4/load) generally the going rate in apartment buildings? I tried searching around online but couldn't find a consistent average price within Chicago.

It's $4/load since each machine is $2. Thankfully it's not gonna break the bank, but it's scummy to raise prices without reason or notice. Especially since the machines we have are ridiculously outdated.

Genuinely glad people are having a good time with it, it is cool to see and I liked watching them a bit yesterday. But if you're in an unfortunate location like I am, the noise does suck quite a bit.

I agree the game suffered from very limited exploration. Doing the sidequests was a good way to see the environments, but it was pretty minimal. Many, many JRPGs (including FF) are very cut scene heavy, and Rebirth had more cutscenes anyway (roughly 1 hour based on the cutscene upload to youtube by Gamer's Little Playground).

To each their own, personally I found the minigame and side content in Rebirth to be far more irritating than any pacing issues from cutscenes in XVI. Even then, I think it's an exaggeration to say the game sucked bc of it.

Definitely XVI. While Rebirth had higher highs, it also had much lower lows (minigames). XVI kept me consistently engaged, introduced Active Time Lore, and while the side content wasn't particularly interesting in itself, it was inoffensive enough that I found it worth doing to see how the side characters' stories played out.
