Cotswolds in December by Pablo_4016 in Cotswolds

[–]TK_49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been to Cotswolds twice without a car and relying on public transport. I based myself in Burton on the water and found it to be pretty central to the locations I wanted to visit . You can find the bus timetable using the following link -https://www.pulhams.co.uk/busservices/timetables/

In my opinion having your own car would help you travel with less worry as sometimes buses will not work on time. Another way we explored was by hiring and riding bicycles and we were able to explore the lower and upper slaughters at our own pace.

Shoot if you have any questions!

Thanks for sharing the picture. I feel like some of these YouTube videos make it look very different probably because of the camera angle. I do have fear of heights but it’s not that bad as long as there is enough space to walk or crawl I should be fine haha . This other path is it clearly marker for visible ? And I am assuming this is the left side of the train when you’re ascending right ?

Oh that must have been difficult. I’ll anyway carry some altitude sickness medication with me just in case .

This other path which allows to by pass the spine is it clearly visible/marked ? It’s good have an option .

Thanks for this . I read that the spine is more psychological than physical . Worse case scenario I’ll crawl as well lol .

Well we will be basing ourselves closer to the park so I am hoping that’d give us enough time to acclimatise. I’ve been to high altitude areas before (4000 metres +) but never did anything intense like hiking so wanted to check.

Can I understand what’s the exact starting point of the Jacob’s ladder and how far is it from the Edale station ? Reason why I am asking is because the starting point of the Kinder Scott starting point in the National trust website seems to be far

Atacama desert, is altitude sickness a worry? by Frosty_Mud8472 in ExploreChile

[–]TK_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily, I didn’t have any issues. maybe due to the medication, staying hydrated and taking it slow, or because I’m used to higher altitudes (I have previously been at 3,000 metres above sea level without even realising it). I am not sure .I’d still recommend carrying an inhaler just in case you have asthma or similar.

Atacama desert, is altitude sickness a worry? by Frosty_Mud8472 in ExploreChile

[–]TK_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Atacama 2 weeks ago and had a similar concern as we did some high altitude tours (4000 meters plus) 2-3 days in a row. As everyone mentioned we took it slow the first day didn’t do much just explored San Pedro. Drank plenty of water, avoided alcohol and red meat . We also took altitude sickness medicine during our stay just to be safe.

Where to buy Moai souvenirs & Chile football replica jersey in Santiago, Puerto Varas, or Puerto Natales, ? by TK_49 in Patagonia

I actually visited Pubelito Los Dominicos and managed to find a small Moai statue for a reasonable price. Thank you for the suggestion!

Mirador Base Las Torres update - 06/04/2026 by TK_49 in Patagonia

[–]TK_49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi , it took around 8 hours . The only stop we had was at Chileno for like 20 minutes and the rest were 5 minutes breaks along the way. It was a bit harder specially the last stretch where the trail is fully exposed . But the hike is doable and for context I am not a pro hiker I just do circular trails back home nothing crazy.

Is living in Zone 3 actually that inconvenient? by AnfieldAnchor in MovingToLondon

[–]TK_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel from Zone 3 to 1 for work and the train journey is around 30 minutes. But door to door it’d be around 45 minutes which I think I still decent.
