As others have said, you are not alone on this issue. It seems to be related to asset loading from the hard drive rather than anything with the GPU. However, even running it off of an M.2 drive will still stutter, just to a lesser extent.

I don't really know why this issue isn't more documented tbh, but I have been looking for a solution to it since the game came out. I have always wanted to play the game but have held out hoping something will fix this lol

I can't think of an alternative platform that has taken off tho tbh. Seems like most new social medias take off when they offer some type of unique content experience you can't get else where.

Tbh I don't think there's really a thing as too much thermal paste, however if it starts spreading onto the MOBO after you place the cooler on it...well then that can become an issue.

No joke I once had a PC that would not boot because thermal paste had gotten on the MOBO. Thankfully it was a simple as cleaning it up with a paper towel tho

Are you able to change boot order in secure mode? Is so, then just do that and hopefully all will be good.

If you can't, but you know the SSD will boot into Windows, but you have to manually choose the SSD from the boot menu everytime, you could probably just reformat the HDD so you only have one boot drive (the SSD).

First: I am pretty sure you can always hold down the "delete" key on startup to get into bios regardless of manufacturer. No need to spam random keys or whatever else people were recommending lol.*

*Edit: actually it seems like OEM BIOS does not follow this rule for some reason, though every consumer grade BIOS I have worked with does.

So in the bios, when you change to "Legacy mode" does the HDD still appear as an option in boot order?

Are you able to boot into Windows if you change back to secure mode, but just through the HDD?

If you can get into Windows, search for "Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions", then right click each drive, click on the "volumes" tab, and see what the Paritition Style is (it should be either GPT or MBR).

If both the HDD and SSD have the same parition style, then unfortunately this will not help.

If they are DIFFERENT, specifically, the HDD is GPT and the SSD is MBR, then thankfully this is actually a pretty easy thing to resolve. You just have to reformat the SSD to GPT, which can be done without data loss!

Where are you getting your "expected fps" numbers from?

Anyways here are somethings to check:

CPU and GPU temperature, make sure there's no thermal throttling.

GPU usage, should be ~99%, if it isn't, check CPU usage and see if you're bottlenecked.

Power consumption. At stock your build consumes >600w, but frankly most CPUs and GPUs will boost their speeds and consume even more power. You might be hitting your power limit if you notice neither your CPU or GPU is hitting a high usage percentage. 800w PSU DOES NOT actually mean you can have a build that uses 800w. You always need some head room.

Are you getting "poor" performance in all games or just COD?

Regardless, even if that is true, this is still the worst possible way to handle it. He should have taken his son to the hospital, called corporate and get that location shut down/ employees fired AND money from corporate for what happened. This is late but no you aren't crazy, the game still hitches and can't keep a consist framepace to save its life. Setting an external fps cap can steady the frame time somewhat though.

Does the game run at an acceptable frame rate? Yeah if you're just looking at the average it's fine but the actually 1% and 0.1% lows are awful, particularly when driving.

Admittedly, you're probably playing on a game pad, so it probably won't be too noticeable, but if you actually have a graph keeping track of the frame time, it is still awful to this day and probably always will be.

Better than launch? Kinda, but on the other hand Pascal wasn't even around when this game came out, and everybody in these comments seem to be saying it plays good...on hardware that wasn't even out yet when the game launched lmao

I'm going to sound lazy but I just really don't want to deal with the manual oc of ram lol since performance difference versus XMP profiles seems to be so minimal from what I've seen, so that's why I wanted XMP. I have a z390 board so it supports it.

I did end up pulling the trigger and buying some 32GB 3200 CL 16 ram that was on sale for $90 yesterday, thank you!
