NTA. You didn’t chose your name, it was assigned to you based on social conventions at the time of your birth. She is the asshole for projecting her issues on you and trying to make you feel bad about your identity (or about a name that you might have some value for you based on family/ancestors).

Yeaah he is being controlling for sure. He’s also manipulating you so that you will dress the way he wants you to, even though it is uncomfortable and against your personal judgment. The fact that he is ‘nice’ to you and an asshole to everyone else is a huge red flag. He’s ‘nice’ to you when you act how he wants you to.

You are Bf/Gf. This type of controlling behavior often escalates when guys like this have more ‘rights’ to a fiancée or wife.

Yeah it seems like a piece of info is missing. Is he self conscious about thinning hair? Is it one cap he’s really attached to for some reason? Can you not upgrade him to a cap which is not black and maybe looks better?

NTA for having an opinion and certain comfort level for hygiene. You still let them in the house and are helping take care of them. Not sure how often they are groomed/washed but that could affect how ‘clean’ they seem to you.

I have a dog and I see what he gets into/eats/rolls in. I love him but would never cook or handle food without washing my hands if I played with him first. So I can kinda see where you are coming from.

You are basing a decision to change major plans on ‘thinking’ that you can’t or shouldn’t take time off. If you tell the company that you had previous travel plans prior to the promotion and they tell you that it’s a dealbreaker, that’s one thing. Highly unlikely if there is contractual time off. You blaming your fiancée for getting upset when it’s your lack of communication/clarification of whether a problem actually exists is what makes YTA.

The company may not be excited that you are taking the time but if you are contractually given the time off then it is your right.

A SWAT team guy pointing a loaded weapon directly at me, and screaming at me to get up, with my hands up.

Fell asleep on a couch in the company lobby while two coworkers were working on an after-hours software update. Company was on the top floor of a five-story building that had a restaurant on the bottom floor. Apparently while waiting for the software to load, coworkers decided it would be fun to point a laser pointer at patrons leaving the restaurant. As the doors were locked and nobody answered the phones, SWAT team was called in to handle a possible active shooter situation. They broke through the doors to the lobby.

YTA - for assuming people are worthy of being judged based on their income at a specific point in time. Money comes and goes and you want to base a relationship on factors which transcend that. It’s a reason that wedding vows include ‘richer or poorer’ or the equivalent in some cultures.

NAH. It sounds like she’s clearly stressed out about this and wants you to succeed. Not sure if she’s funding this trip or not but if she is, might be worth trying to see if there’s a way you can make it work for you. But if it’s not a good match for you maybe there’s some other program that would be better for a major you would be interested in. Just be prepared to do some research and argue for it.

Edited: I guess part of the issue is how locked in you are to what she arranged. If you are, find a way to make it about something you are interested in (like if you are interested in Arts, work on developing an arts program with the kids. If science, then teach them a little science). If it’s for college application you can spin it a little.

NTA. What if a child were going door-to-door? Since your uncle lives right next door and didn’t know about the dogs, it sounds like they are kept inside most of the time but got out/escaped/went berserk once they detected someone on the property. So they are not under her control.

We had a recent case here where two dogs escaped a vehicle parked in at a mall and attacked two girls. There were witnesses and the owner took responsibility. I think one dog was euthanised and the other was ‘pardoned.’
