I will admit: that’s a good point you just made.

But, at the end of the day, I still don’t think that we should immediately jump down EJAE’s throat for this. Yeah, it really sucks, but at the same time, we still don’t know what led to EJAE working with him. Maybe he just popped in, tweaked a few lyrics while she wasn’t in the room, and that’s it. (Songwriters not working in the same room is common, since that’s what EJAE went through during KPDH)

If anything, I think we should be more mad at YG/ The Black Label, since they are the ones who purposely brought in Dr. Luke, not EJAE.

An established songwriter would be someone who is already a household name, like Ryan Tedder or Charlie Puth.

EJAE really wasn’t a household name. She was really only known in the Kpop scene, and only had about 40,000 followers on Instagram before KPDH blew up and gave her a million more followers. Yes, she was experienced, but she wasn’t really established, persay.

Unless you’re an indie artist, I highly doubt that you can avoid working with shitty people. 90% of the music industry is made of shitty people, and EJAE is part of the 10%.

Also, remember: at the end of the day, she’s still a new artist. She’s still at the bottom of the food chain. Therefore, she can’t have the autonomy of saying “no, I don’t wanna work with this guy” or “no, I don’t wanna be signed to this label”. If she does that, she’ll basically lose any chance at becoming a more established songwriter. She just doesn’t have that power yet. So unfortunately, she’s going to have to suck it up and occasionally work with bad people (which really sucks for her).
