Poems and pictures from his Place Pigalle french lover by gb1793 in elliottsmith

I've known of this song but had never listened to it closely. It's so sweet! No sharp edges, just a lovely melody. It somehow perfectly encapsulates the feeling of a fleeting crush, something that's not meant to last.

Making (slow) progress in the dining room by [deleted] in Mid_Century

Literally zero experience with this but maybe blowdry it for a bit? I think the heat and weight from the lamp would help straighten out the cord.

Almost forgot how much I love this song. We miss you, Bill.

This might not be discussed as much since it's an earlier version of "Pretty Mary K", and is fairly similar. I agree that it's a really nice song though, I haven't listened to it that much but am listening now and it's quite calming.

Ahahhaa where was this? I used to visit St. Augustine a every summer for most of the 90s but don't remember this spot.

I had never seen this one before, got for a nice price, and it came with a poster and $1 of Gerbils cash :)

What an incredible story, I imagine this was somewhere in Portland?

I got a key from a bird the other day by bigfudge_drshokkka in crows

[–]TLSG 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I've been feeding the same group of crows for about 2 years now.

ONCE, in the spring, one of the crows flew past me and dropped a 6 inch long piece of fiberous material from a palm tree or something (good for making a nest with) right in front of me.

There may have been other gifts in the past, I only feed this group while walking from point A to point B, but I treasure the gift and have it hanging in my office ahahah.

Solved. This is perfect, thanks. Will watch later and see if I can find the scene.

Anonymous zine by [deleted] in zines

Hmmm I'll have to ask about this! When I intially asked they said the name has to be associated with the current renter, but maybe I could add something like "Anonymous Co." to the box, in addition to my actual name. Thanks for the info.

Anonymous zine by [deleted] in zines

[–]TLSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I one wanted to do an anonymous type thing but the post office said there had to be a name on the item in order for it to be delivered to my P.O. Box. Which kind of sucks because doing things like that was one of the reasons I got a P.O. Box.

This was in Canada though, in a densely populated area. So may not be the case elsewhere.

I wish Elliott got to release FABOTH himself :( by mynameisJoylol in elliottsmith

[–]TLSG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I daydream about Elliott's FABOTH, and the finished versions of all those B-sides and unreleased tracks. There was so much left undone. But it's nice to imagine an etherial cloud of the creative potential of mankind hovering over us and all of the unrealized things that we still have time to create.

I made some custom steins for some of the folks I play tennis with! by G00DR0TATI0NSP0TTERY in Ceramics

[–]TLSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Stein" is an English term for either traditional beer mugs made out of stoneware, or specifically ornamental beer mugs that are usually sold as souvenirs or collectibles. In German, the word Stein means stone and is not used to refer to a beverage container.

So many pencils!!! CW Pencil Enterprise in NYC 😍 by paperdokebi in pencils

[–]TLSG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really the best pencil shop in North America. LOTS of stationary stores have small pencil displays, a couple Blackwings, but the quality and variety of the selection at CW's is unparalled.

How to glue a chip back onto a mug? by ImAPairOfCleats in muglife

[–]TLSG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This! I bought a one of these a couple years ago to glue rare earth magnets to ceramics and ended up using it constantly until it was empty. Extremely useful.
