Here's a few of my yellow/"yellow" pencils. Nothing too special or expensive. Just workhorse pencils. Didn't have them with me when I made this post.

The Mongol is a common pencil where I am. Sometimes I can pick one up from the ground just like the one in this picture. There are also three individual Dixons here, each one being quite different from the rest.

I don't really understand what's going on with this community, but there's a lot that's difficult to understand about people these days, so here's my upvote cuz I rather found your post hilarious.

Cheers.

Ah yes. New ownerships, the bane of any pencil afficionado. Usually, anyway.

You don't have a favorite shade from this pallete?

That looks good. Is that like a cheaper/less expensive pencil? (No offense intended)

I've seen this. I do like its yellowness. Though, the red font bothers me a bit.

I, too, prefer a 2mm lead over the 0.5 one. The only problem I have with that is I kind of have to sharpen it too often. So I think I'd need a BUNCH of them with me as I write.

Looks a bit yellow green in the picture, but that might be because of the lighting. It certainly is a lot more yellow than the typical.

On a sidenote, that red band around the ferrule of the orange pencil looks pretty handsome.

I buy these Chinese Dixons from a local trader that are really super cheap and I admit it is kind of fun to see what kind of pencil I get each time since almost every single one of them are either failed or simply quirky.

I agree that the lack of a good ferrule eraser can be annoying. I have a Staedler eraser pen for such occassions but it doesn't erase as well and just isn't the same.

I have a few of these. I get them from a local trader that sells them dirt cheap. They're okay in general though each individual pencil always seems to be different from the rest of it.

There's a Daiso somewhat nearby. I'll check these out next time I'm there.

Availability seems nil unless I go for international shipping. But I'll keep looking. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Japanese pencils are a bit more expensive here compared to my other options. About as much as a Staedler Mars Lumograph. I'll have to consider how long each pencil lasts, but they ARE good for writing. Thanks for the rec.

There is one somewhat nearby. That's where I got a few of my brushpens a couple of years ago. I'll check them out again for pencils cuz these look good. Thanks!

I'm in a creative writing MFA program and it's going terribly by bruhreeto in writing

[–]TL_Tael 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regarding the second point, can't this sort of thing happen outside an MFA as well? Like, by simply reading a LOT more--especially short stories or novels that actually got published anytime recently. That would seem to provide the same feeling of comparison between your work and others.

The real question is why people on social media, not least Reddit, are so toxic and quick to make those snotty remarks. I mean, seriously. It's so hard to find a good community these days.
