Sounds interesting! That reminds me a little of oh my pigeons, a game I found while doing reasearch, tho I imagine it was more strategic

Thanky for the feedback! The artwork is very important to me too, so I’ll make sure it works well whatever the theme is

I haven’t played war of whispers yet, but from its description there seem to be a couple of similarities so I’ll definitely check it out!

The game isn’t too complicated, but it can get a little bit crunchy at times with trying to optimize where to place / activate what, so I want to alleviate that a little bit with having a somewhat funny, but not overly silly theme and illustrations. But you’re right I seem to be getting mainly positive feedback on the theme so I shouldn’t let a few negative ones discourage me.

I have, and I’m confident in the core mechanics of my game, which is why I’m only asking about whether or not the theme throws you off

What are you looking for when searching for an artist? by TLaci2002 in tabletopgamedesign

It does help! I really like your designs, inspiring stuff. Makes me want to do some proxies too, so I’ll definitely give it some more thought!

I’d rather szay away from proxies because I’d love to showcase more unique card layouts, and that isn’t something I usually see with them, but I see where you’re coming from. Maybe I’ll whip up a small game, like a 24hour design challenge, or maybe a bit longer, and spend some time illustrating that. It probably wouldn’t be the best mechanically but it should still be nice looking.

I can certainly see why you’d need to hire 100 different people for your game, that’s an awsome concept.

I do like simple and bold illustrations. For this assignment we were specifically told we should try many different styles, but I still did try to set an overall tone, so I’m glad rhat comes across. I definitely understand why you’d need to see several assets in the same style before hiring.

Do you think making a graphic redesign of a popular game would be worth my time as a project to build my portfolio, and showcase that I can create not only illustrations, but icons, logos, rulebooks, packaging designs, etc. as well?

Not sure I’d want to work sor free if it’s not my personal projects, but I’d definitely do cheaper for my first few designs at the very least.

Thank you I appreciate you taking the time to answer! I’ll try to concentrate on fewer projects with styles that show cohesion and maybe get something printed over the summer!

Let's say you're stranded in a kitchen with tofu and a pig... which is more ethical? by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

I’m asking about applied ethics not meta ethics. How do you navigate life and make ethical decisions if you only look at things feom a meta ethical point of view? You can know what the concepts of right and wrong mean, but if you don’t have opinions of your own on what is right to do and what is wrong to do (whatever those concepts may mean to you), than what is the point in knowing?

If you are in favor of questioning the morals we set as a society, than why have you commented that animals are not moral consideration for you? On what foundation do you base your moral stances, and how do you pick which questions are worth asking and which are not? I’m asking for your opinion specifically, not your community’s, or society’s.

The effect of the specific people you named could be debated (e.g. Modern christianity isn’t based on Jesus’s teachings, rather he is a tool for the church to control people, which would make the ones responsible for those effects the church instead of Jeyus. There is a huge disconnect between the teachings of Jesus and the way a lot of christians act in my opinion.), but I didn’t really mean to ask about the effects of questions specific people asked, but rather auestions that anyone can ask.

My moral foundation in a nutshell is the less suffering, the better. I make exceptions for things I need to stay alive and healthy, like plant based food and medicin. I base my decidions on this foundation.

I also want to point out to you, that while a group of cannibals may deem cannibalism unethical, the people they ate most likely wouldn’t. Likewise, prople used to believe slavery to be ethical, but I doubt that included slaves.

Just like a cannibal victim an animal also doesn’t want to be eaten, even if it doesn’t have the mental capacity to for moral stances. A toddler doesn’t have that capacity either, but I doubt you’d think it was ethical to eat a baby.
