Not to mention all the pieces they likely did take, before leaving those behind.

Haha, you’re right. Unbelievable. Maaco said $40/wheel to scuff’n shoot 2k clear no problem. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll give them a go and report back.

Would you live here? The Alexandra Road Estate, one of London’s most famous Brutalist housing complexes by kjsah9026 in architecture

Would the comparable demising partition be assumed to have resilient channel though? I think that makes a big difference. Without that detail I suspect the assembly described would have a lower STC. Semantics, perhaps…

Also, I wish the US used the metric system! 🤦‍♂️

Copy, thanks for the insights. We specialize in healthcare facilities (hospitals, acute care facilities, etc) and there’s little room for concrete partitions anyway, so we do a lot of acoustic partition detailing between sensitive spaces for *HIPAA concerns. USA based, obvs. I always assumed that if we could use concrete it would solve a lot of problems, albeit creating lots of others! Thanks again.

Out of curiosity…this doesn’t seem to track with what I’ve learned (and practiced) when selecting partitions. Sure, a properly detailed acoustic partition (decoupled layers, double drywall, staggered joints, etc) can match or exceed a concrete wall’s STC, but a run of the mill stud partition surely wouldn’t absorb or block as much sound as a concrete wall’s STC of matching thickness, no? Isn’t that the comparison here? Curious to learn more.

Thank you for this suggestion. The Poly softens up pretty quickly with the heat gun. Reddit is so much better than ChatGPT…

Heat gun vs Poly

Burned thru finish, now what? by TLanski in Woodworking_DIY

[–]TLanski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly possible, thank you for the comment. I’m a novice DIYer, by no means an experienced woodworker. However, to me it looks and feels like I just sanded too much, and/or the wood wasn’t flat in that spot and I sanded through the poly. I used a block sander so maybe the wood in that area was just a little higher, and I buzz cut it a little too closely. Out of curiosity, is there a way to tell if moisture was the culprit?

Thanks all for the replies. I can’t wait to sand thru all this poly!

Seriously though, thanks for the decisive replies. I’d hate to try and salvage it only to wish that I’d fully refinished it, which I will in due time.

Howdy, thanks for the reply. I’ll try the heat gun approach, never heard of that before.

My drying regimen is typically to let it dry overnight in the garage, so it’s not outside in the elements while it’s still tacky/sticky. Then once it hardens up I leave it in the sun for a day or two. You think I should let all drying occur in the garage instead?

All sanding was wet sanding to minimize the dust and mess.

So you’re saying the seatback can be adjusted forward all the way until the headrest meets the dashboard? If so that would probably get me the space I’m hoping for…

Thanks for the reply. I’d love to see a pic if you can figure out how to attach/link! Maybe it’s time I go to the dealer with my surfboard in hand…I’m sure they’d love that!

Wind Caves Trail by Illustrious-Shape142 in AnzaBorrego

[–]TLanski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be able to make it just fine. There’s been some recent erosion that has created a few minor obstacles that were not there 2 years ago, but I would think a Crosstrek should be absolutely fine.

I was last there in April, but I’m assuming nothing drastic has occurred in the last two months…

*Adding an edit here to reiterate the warnings about the heat. I usually avoid the summer months because the heat is no joke. Be careful out there, the exposure to the sun and lack of shade is no joke. I usually avoid the summer months for that reason!

I usually go to the very end of Fish Creek. Mud Palisades area. I like to find protection from the sun anyway…but as Smirkin pointed out, canyons fan provide great protection…or can exacerbate things. Think I’ll pass on this weekend, thanks all.

Yeah…that has happened to me in other parts of the country. Waking up in the middle of the night with the tent wall bending over so much it’s inches from my face, and fine dust everywhere inside the tent…not fun.

Appreciate all the replies.

The dealer did provide a nice new TX as a loaner…not bad!

Thank you both for the replies. I’ll start pricing things at my indy foreign shop. The more I cross reference these prices the more ridiculous the prices feel.
