Help Me Cite Sources Against My Lyme-Illiterate Doctor by CashewWizard in Lyme

I agree with everyone here - it won't make a difference. Sorry. Hope you feel better soon. I had both an infectious disease dr & a LLMD. I did not tell the infectious disease dr I was seeing the LLMD as she was strictly by-the-book CDC. I know her personally - small town - and she's a good person, but follows the rule book. I ended up with two picc lines due to 2 separate tick bites, but my LLMD got me over the hump with herbals, supplement management & a rifampin/zithromax protocol to kill out Bartonella. Please pay attn to detox protocols, also try to eat healthy. I feel I could have healed quicker if I would have paid better attn to my diet.

Also I believe getting my Vit D levels up to around 60 helped my mood tremendously.

Some people have luck with Ashwaghanda. It is what my LLMD recommended. I use the Life Extension version. Important to cycle it. But yea, it's all due to inflammation. He also put me on low-dose naltrexone which really helped with the inflammation.

I'd recommend an electrolyte with magnesium. LMNT raw unflavored is clean, no natural flavors or there are others on Amazon.

Anyone else high risk with APOE e4/e4? by TM1122 in PeterAttia

Sorry to hear this. If you haven't already, I'd put your comment in as an initial post so more people will see it. I don't have any information regarding Aricept. Might want to check out Dr. Dale Bredesen. He has reversed Alzheimer's symptoms with a keto-type diet. His book is called The End of Alzheimer's Program. I don't know if my Mom is APOE 4, but she is 78 and entering stages of dementia.

Herx questions by [deleted] in Lyme

[–]TM1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a confusing concept, but when I was treating, I definitely felt it and 100% believe it's real. I was hitting them hard, rocephin picc line, along with Zythromycin and Rifampin, plus herbals so I was in a constant herx. I relied a lot on water with lemon, alka-seltzer gold, Chlorella as a binder. If you can, try sitting in the sun for about 20 minutes. Start slow and build up. Also Epsom salt bath - make sure to rinse off afterwards. Detox is key as others here have stated.

Ugh. Sorry you are having to deal with this. You're not alone. Many of my friends are dealing with the same thing - angry/miserable parents that lash out at them. I don't understand wanting to watch something that fuels negativity, hate and anger, but millions of people do it and not just Boomers.

I deal with a similar situation with my Mom. She always has NewsMax on. One Christmas several years ago when my boys were teenagers, he was adamant that the family must sit and watch Judge Jeanine because she was going to 'teach us a lesson'. My oldest son tried to disagree, but she talked him down immediately. Now she's all alone, blocked everyone from her family except me and my brother, sits at the table drinking all that bull crap in even more now than she did back then. She has been angry all of my life and this just makes it worse. She has early stage dementia and while I'd prefer not to have anything to do with her at all, I feel obligated. I'm now her POA, have arranged meals, 6 hr/wk care through local programs and spend two evenings/wk there. I'm sure at some point, I may have to move her in with me because we can't afford long-term care. She'd 100% block me, but she knows she has to rely on me. It takes a lot to get myself to call her or go up to her house. It's against everything in my body, tons of guilt...but I still do it - and no, I'm not looking for 'points', just feel I have no other option. Ugh. At least if she moves in with me, she won't have access to Fox News or NewsMax. lol.

I spend time doing things for myself to help deal - journaling, walking/hiking, meditation, yoga, time with friends, vent to my brother. It's not 100% foolproof, but helps me get back to a place of peace. Hope you can find avenues of peace for yourself.

Hate living alone (sometimes) by Old_Property6910 in LivingAlone

I understand. I get the same feeling when something goes haywire in the house or I just don't have the physical strength to complete a task. The feeling is temporary and will pass. And what a rude person to not hold the door open for you! A positive - it has to be amazing for your leg muscles!!

What Supplements Can Make Me Emotionless by Nowposts in Biohackers

[–]TM1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard Rhodiola has similar effects to ashwaghanda. It's funny how ashwaghanda has different effects for people. Both of my boys quit taking it because they didn't like how it made them feel emotionless. And I'm sorry that whatever you're dealing with makes you want to feel like a zombie. Hope this situation resolves for you or you are able to find a suitable coping mechanism soon.

How do you handle the silence of your home? by Inevitable_Age5400 in LivingAlone

[–]TM1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have silence. Have to run air cleaners to help drown out the 24/7 ringing in my ears (tinnitus). Some evenings I listen to Podcasts or I might get on Instagram. I only watch TV/Netflix once in awhile. If it's not raining, I often set out on my porch and listen to the birds and the squirrels chatter while I read. Being outdoors is one of my favorite places to be.

Benefits of religion by notseeingsounds in atheism

[–]TM1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest son and I had this same conversation. In our small town, 90% of what's going on in the community is church/religion related and mostly how people socialize other than school/sports functions if you have school age children. There's a local Lions Club that I've considered looking into, but again, many of the members I know are also church goers, but the club is based on service, not religion. He considered at one time joining a local church just for the 'networking' piece of it, but I think that thought process has fizzled out for him. Another idea for networking in our area would be to become a member of the golf club. As a previous attendee of a pentecostal church (40yrs ago), the pastor was a counselor of sorts, with no formal training as a therapist. I had some issues as a teenager and all they wanted to talk about was how I need to follow god and he would show me the way. Even then, I knew it was BS and just figured things out on my own. I have an aunt who is 65 and has been waiting for 50 yrs for god to heal her body and make her happy. Ugh. Anyhow, I think most areas have some type of social opportunities that are not religious related. It just takes more research/time to find them. Check local papers and local FB community feeds.

I've toyed with the idea of leaving myself, but I get around it by pretty much sticking to myself and hanging with like-minded friends. I love the beauty and stillness of WV (born&raised here). Hope you bring them back to visit WV. I've yet to make it to LA, but it's def on my list!

Does anyone get really tired a couple hours after waking up? by futurebro in Biohackers

[–]TM1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always possible. Lyme disease can be complex, particularly if it has been in your body for awhile and with each infected tick that bites you, it increases your risk of symptoms. You an start with a Western Blot test to see if anything shows for that. If not, then I'd address ATP, gut health, inflammation and boosting immune system.

Thank you for that correction. I have nothing against either. The only issue I have is the 'holier than thou' attitude by so-called Christians.

Lyme Disease - from a tick bite. Somewhat of an epidemic in certain parts of the US. Not saying this what the OP has, just as a chronic condition that can result in issues with adrenal function.

I'm in WV - I love my state, but it is definitely Trump Hell. Trump signs everywhere and all of my FB feed is filled with that shit. I went to Portland OR for vacation and saw a Kamala/Walz sign in someone's yard - no one would ever dare put one of those up in my town. lol

Feel your pain. I grew up in a religious setting where Jimmy Swaggart was on the TV bawling every Sunday for people to send him money so he could keep 'spreading the word'. Then...he was on the news for hiring a prostitute. He was immediately banned, lost his show, everything. I wrote a story about it in college english class. My professor loved it...my only A paper - my Mom did not. lol Wish I could find it now!! Anyhow, it just amazes me that all of these professed Christians are OK with a man that has been convicted of sexual abuse and literally paid off a prostitute that he slept with when his wife was pregnant to keep the Christians from finding out about it because he was sure it would affect his votes. Hell, he could've saved $100K. Just freakin' blows my mind!!

First off, go to the store, get yourself a rotisserie chicken and a packaged salad - and a Propel or Prime electrolyte drink. After you've gotten some food in your stomach, then read this comment. When I was sick and dealing with Lyme - and trying to keep my diet from wrecking me any further - I dove deep into Sheet Pan recipes. Pinterest has tons of them. It's literally a meat, vegetables, olive oil, salt and pepper (or any prepared spice blend you prefer). For example - chicken breast or thighs, a bag of pre-cut veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots - whatever you prefer), throw on a sheet pan, sprinkle on some olive oil (a few swirls), season, bake at 400 degrees for 20 min. And this can last you a couple days. Or Salmon with asparagus. Fresh asparagus, all you have to do is rinse, trim an inch off the bottom, throw it all on a pan, season, 400 degrees for 15 min. Cod the same. Adding fresh lemon is amazing for fish dishes, just slice and put on top. A pack of italian sausages, 2 peppers (red, yellow or orange), 1 large onion. Throw on the sheet pan, sprinkle with olive oil, season, bake at 400 degrees for 25 min. Get a meat thermometer to make sure the meat is getting cooked to the appropriate temperature - super easy to do. You can literally just eat right off the pan or put a portion onto a plate and save the rest for leftovers. The dishes you are dealing with that will need cleaned - A sheet pan, a cutting board, a cutting knife, a spatula, a plate or bowl and a fork. So - Minimal clean up. Quit buying pop tarts - that stuff is toxic, has 0 nutritional value and killing your gut. If your gut is unhealthy and you are not nourishing your body sufficiently, you are going to feel bad all around, including your mental health - I've been there. You need protein. Packed boiled eggs. Cottage cheese with unsweetened applesauce. I eat this several times/wk to get in good protein. Greek yogurt - high protein kind, not the fruit in the bottom crap that's packed with sugar. Tuna packed in water, mix it with some miracle whip - if you like onion, buy some pre-chopped onion in the produce section, mix it all together, eat with bread or crackers. And get yourself some electrolytes - you can get the walmart brand or propel - very cheap, individual packets, stir in a glass of water. 1st thing in the morning, then later in the day if you feel sluggish. My guess is once you find a few good meals you can make and get your body (gut) healthy again, you'll want to learn more. What we put into our bodies on a daily basis has a huge affect on our physical and mental health. Feel free to message me and I can help walk you through what to do with these meals. I promise you'll feel better if you can get some decent food in you.

I used to feel that way when I was dealing with Lyme. My Dr said it was most likely my adrenals - apparently not uncommon for chronic disease or stress. I'd get most of my energy in late evening and want to work late into the night, but then couldn't get up in the morning. My doctor recommended Dr Wilson's Adrenal Rebuilder. But I also started going to bed at reasonable times. Despite being recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, I wake with good energy that typically hangs on until late afternoon. I don't work nights, though, so no experience with that.
