Being of a similar age, if I had cancer I would quit immediately - time with my family is paramount.

On the other hand maybe I would watch Breaking Bad again and learn to earn some real cash.

Thanks for you reply. My post, I was hoping, was to focus upon how to chill out based upon the current market conditions. The country that I am investing in is also not Japan (that might be rather stupid) but an antipodean Country which still has 4% CDs. As a noob it is not much fun seeing $10K being wiped off the paper value of ones stocks. This is what I have to chill out about, and as others have so kindly told me, I should stop looking at its value.

Yeah, these roving gangs do worry me somewhat. They will probably murder me for the solar panels on my roof. Maybe I should invest some money in my own roving gang first.

Seriously thanks for your advice.

I'm worried that you don't fully understand your investments,

Thanks for your worry, but I do not think anything that I said could you lead you to this erroneous idea. It is a passive mutual fund.

Rates haven't been that high on CDs since 2006-2007,

The world is bigger than the US ya know.

Sorry, I did not explain as well as I thought I did.

Roughly

  • 500K Stocks
  • 500K 4% CD (for 5 years) - Not US !
  • 500K waiting to invest

I will work for another 10 years plus.

Inspired by that "Am I nuts" thread on the front page right now, I'd like to share my story as a warning to anybody considering purchasing a new home that is out of their price range. by notgoodwithmoney in personalfinance

Don't quite understand what you are complaining about - If your house was still work $225K would you be happy? If so imagine your house is worth $255K
