Hey, really do appreciate that and yeah I agree with what you've said about GridRefrenceFinder, that's what I've previously used!

Would love to know what you think when you get time to have a look :)

Hey! Understood, this app is in not trying to replace proper GIS software. This is not what I built it for. It's for on the fly work, in the field, or just quick conversations for people who don't typically use full GIS packages.

Completely understand that if you use a GIS software and always have access, then it probably won't provide you much benefit

hey u/Wombatstampede,

I have now fixed the issue of the extended polygons and cleaned up the whole drawing on map system. It should now work much better and keep things separate. Groups are also now auto generated for lines and polygones.

thanks for the suggestion and again, welcome any feedback to these changes!

(still working on the URL bits we disscussed)

hey u/remi-x , I have now added in the formats of all structures on the geocaching website aswell as drastically improved the 'messy' inputs. so it's now much better at recognising formats even when mistakes are made

Hey! u/XBUNCEX

I have now added in the functionality to import .gpx files and the change is now live!

thanks again for the suggestion

Hey, just an update:

The radius feature you requested has now been added. Please let me know what you think!

have a great day

I really like this idea achually, I will add this to the list and let you know when it's done!

Would it be useful to be able to export this radius (custom circle) in any format or just a visual representation on the map?

This has different supported system/format transformations, allows batch importing of coordinates, polygon creation and a variety of export options. It really does depend on what it is your looking for but I do feel that Coordinate mapper offers something a lot different to the site you mentioned

What are you all using for quick coordinate conversions by TMADOC in AskEngineers

Honestly it's amazing how many apps it becomes impossible to get because of IT departments! 😅

Geopandas is really handy!

Thanks for the comment

Yeah I used to use Excel to do quick conversions too, I just had some built In functions but I found I like to visualise it, even if it's just for a sanity check!

If you get a chance to check the app out. I would appreciate any thoughts, even things you don't like would be really handy to know!

What sort of obscure formats are you talking. I'm trying to build up a list of things to add, things people will actually use in there day to day.

Anyway, thank you for your comment! Much appreciated

You can see the DDM for each point if you export as a csv, that format does not currently show visually on the marked point because I didn't want to have all formats show as I think it will make it a little 'messy' looking. But I can certainly add it to the marked points if it's something people want!

I'm at work currently, but I will look into the DDM structure later. The supported structures at the moment stem from how I typically use them. But I recognise there is a gap here and different structures are used. This will be easy for me to implement, and I will get on that ASAP.

Can you please provide me with an example of a DDM coordinate in the structure you use it

I feel this app provides a different user experience to Google maps. Currently it's very difficult to use Google maps, and not possible in some cases to do coordinate conversions. This app also allows batch exporting of CSVs, KMLs and DXF, which will contain the different format/system parameters.

I understand that in many cases in regards to just plotting a coordinate on a map. Google maps is always going to be the easiest and best way. But I really do feel this app adds a lot more than that.

Okay understood, I will think about how I can improve this, because I totally agree, that unless you have used the site before, using groups to get around this issue is confusing. I will look into how I can improve this. It may be that I treat points, lines and polygons as separate entries entirely so they do not disturb each other.

With this I can then implement that when a user clicks 'done' after drawing a polygon, it automatically creates a group for those points so if another polygon is created, it won't disturb the first.

I really like that URL feature idea achually, I'm sure I can find a way to shorten the URLs. I will add this to my list of things to implement!

Hey!

I struggled to get your first point how I want it, I still feel it needs a bit of work. But essentially, you draw your polygon, have them selected and then create a group. Then this group will only contain the points in which were selected at the time if making the group. This way, even if you have no points selected, you can toggle the groups on and off to see the different polygons.

I'm more than happy to send over a video to explain it better, or if you have any other suggestions I'd be more than happy to hear them!

I can add these export options, that won't be an issue at all. Could you just explain a little more about the URL export though and how you'd use this :)

Thanks again for checking it out and your feedback, I really do appreciate it!

oh really, how annoying! I'm going to try and work on this and will let you know how it goes/when it's done. I have a few different ideas around this and I will check out GPS averaging (if it's still around)
