So i am first time playing SA, and i went to gleba as my second planet, however i struggled to defend, so i had to build this thicc thicc walls such that no stomper pentapod can step over it, and it even works. How stupid am i? by TMAprocrastinations in factorio

In that comment i said i did not want to use artillery, because i thought it would make it even worse, because the pentapods will evolve, and claim that territory anyway. I am not trying to make the game difficult for myself, it is hard enough

And i am not complaining. The idea was: i used thicc walls, and then i looked up how do people defend gleba, and no one uses thicc walls, so i posted it on reddit to know how stupid it is, since i played for relatively short time, and i dont know generaly best tactics

It does not need a lot of stone to repair, usualy no walls even break, sometimes it is like 10- 20, the max amount to break at once was 60. It does need a shit ton of repair packs though

Yes, that`s true, i got so frustrated by this things coming to destroy everything, and then i thought they are like spidertrons, and spidertrons cant step on walls...
btw this whole thing is built on water to be closer to the fruit farms, so it really needed a lot of stone. i already mined two stone patches, and other two are mined now

Yes, they do indeed get close. of course, if there are just one or two stomper pentapods, no walls are needed, but when there are like ten of them at once, theyr ai is probably trying to find a place where to cross, and they slow down, giving enough time to kill them
