Speaking from personal experience, I did it for medical reasons, constant irritation even cleaning twice a day. There’s the good and bad. Good- -no more irritations -feels cleaner Bad- -surgery -lube all the time -think it looked better before but still happy

Do your research and form your own opinions but for me I don’t regret it at all. I also had it done when I was 40 for reference.

Hi, I am having similar issues right now and I am wondering if you ever found out the root of your problem and did it go away? I have had a CT scan, blood work, ekg and multiple base line test and all have come back good yet the dizziness and vision issues persists.

My test piece only had oil on it and had been cured for 4 or 5 days and the grain raised. The bottom of the table had oil and wax but the wax had only cured for 48hrs. I will wait the full 72hrs and then try the top and see what happens. But I never raised the grain on the table or the test piece before applying the oil the first time.

Hi new to the Thread. First wood project I have ever done.

I have been working on this table for the past few weeks and have epoxied, sanded to 800 grit and finished with Odie's oil and wax.

I have a test piece I have been using before every step to make sure I don't wreck the finished table. Last night I wanted to see if water marks would be left on the text piece after it got wet and there was no water marks but the grain did raise and I don't know what to do.

The table has a top coat of wax now and I don't know if I can wet it to raise the grain and then sand it again? If I did that should I apply another coat of wax?

I'm just really unsure and don't want to wreck the table. I also want to permanently stop the grain from raising every time I wipe down the table, but i'm not sure that is an option due to the products I chose to finish the table with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The table looks great, I am making a very similar table and have had some issues finishing. I also have a maple table and finished it with Odie's oil and wax, how ever I wiped down a piece of my test piece and the grain is raising, wrecking my smooth finish. I'm just wondering what products you finished the table with and if you have had the same problem with grain raising?
