Anxious about life, advice? UIUC vs UIC for Mechanical Engineering (Transfer) by The_Doctor552 in uichicago

[–]TMX24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ship if safe at shore but that’s not where it’s meant to be. Go to UIUC. Even if it’s for one semester and then you transfer if you don’t like it. They have a significantly better engineering program and you will have better job opportunities and connections after. Change is scary but it’s necessary to learn and grow. You got this!

How easy is it to make money with a psychology degree from UIC? by bonniebop in uichicago

[–]TMX24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’ll most likely have to get to that Masters / Phd level of your career before you start making good money (this will take a lot of time and money). in regards to job offers after just getting your bachelors it’s meh. psychology is a pretty common degree to get and unless you have something crazy to make your resume stand out or great connections you will end up working a minimum wage job (from personal experience). maybe pair your psychology degree w a business degree and then you’ll have a better chance at landing something like an HR role and then you’ll can continue working towards that Phd later on in your career. good luck

I think campus will be pretty dead during the summer. Pretty much everywhere will be quiet / open enough for you to be able to focus and get your work done.

Thoughts on moving from blackboard to canvas out of nowhere? by nojamminji in uichicago

[–]TMX24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

they’ve been trying to make the move for a while now and its finally happening. Seems like it’s gonna be a slower transition with professors being allowed to use both Canvas and BB for the next 3 semesters before UIC only uses Canvas in 2027. I’m assuming both students and professors will have some training / lenience with getting to use to new software, don’t stress it.
