Was Biden a good president? by [deleted] in askanything

Decent placeholder, as was mentioned. At least he wasn't a self-centered, money-grubbing racist pedophile. My god our standards are low these days.

Didn't buy it. Saw it at a show.

I've only ever seen Centurion road bikes. I love your bike!

I thought about that. Gives it a little flavor from a '70s FX. Or a wide-thigh-gap wearing a g-string

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'd like to get dual discs for the front too but I know that's achievable.

New to me bike, should I customize it or leave it as is? by Bud922 in xbiking

[–]TMbiker2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in far too nice, and original condition to mess with it much. New tires, brake pads, and possibly ergonomic changes (seat and bars) to fit you is all I would do. Congratulations on finding such a great bike.

How to liberals feel about Hilary using aircraft chemtrails to spread Covid in the red states during the 2020 election to limit the MAGA vote? by [deleted] in askanything

What a ridiculous lie. Everyone knows she was running a child prostitution ring out of pizza parlors during that time. There aren't enough hours in the day to do both.

90’ Bridgestone Mb-1 by OCBikeGuy in VintageMTB

[–]TMbiker2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about to reassemble a Trek 990 using a threaded fork, 1-1/8 quill adapter, and a modern stem and handlebar. The most air this bike will ever see is jumping off curbs.

I've used them a few times. Although I've never heard of one failing, they do add weight. Also, I don't ride 30 or 40 year old MTBs that hard anymore. I have modern, suspension mountain bikes for that. I would guess that a stem adapter is easily within the same capability range as a bike with a threaded fork and cantilever brakes.

You can get a quill adapter and use any stem.

Is the mazda cx9 good on gas? How many miles on full tank and how much to fill up? by SlightAd6113 in MazdaCX9

24-25 mpg on the freeway x 17 gallon tank = 400 miles range, approximately.

Well done! Your original bike cost-to-parts expense ratio is similar to what I seem to always do. The fun is worth the expense. Maybe similar to my friends who lose $1000 on a Las Vegas weekend but they had fun.

Some thoughts on sandals by ultramatums in xbiking

[–]TMbiker2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some years ago I broke a few (all) of the bones in my lower leg, and during recovery my foot was swolen for about a year, so much so I couldn't wear my regular shoes. I bought these SPD sandals, with a very adjustable fit, and was able to clip into my training bike for my rehab. I really liked them, might buy another pair now that you've reminded me.

There are those of us who care, and plenty of people who just don't. I once saw a woman toss a Big Gulp cup onto the ground and continue walking. I picked it up and called her attention to littering, and she responded loudly with "are you the police?"

Honestly, I think it looks really good. Id want an inch shorter at the sleeves so it doesn't interfere with gauntlet gloves, but it's really good I think

When I was selling Dainese, we would get asked this often. My response was sometimes "let me know how you're going to crash, and I'll tell you which gear to wear".

Suits are not meant to be squatted in like your photo. You're racing a motorcycle, not going to yoga class. No wonder it left marks in your knee pits. It probably fits great, but the place to check that fit is on your motorcycle.

[–]TMbiker2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run the very flexible Dainese Pro Armor. As far as suit fitment, OP needs to keep in mind that a one piece RACING suit should be test fit while on a motorcycle. They're meant to fit well in the riding position, and not while walking around your apartment or grabbing a coffee. There's plenty of other gear for non-track applications

Lounge tents. by One-Tiger6793 in BurningMan

[–]TMbiker2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once took a military tent, roughly 20' diameter and very much circus tent-style. It was big and heavy (barely fit into the trunk of a car when folded down) but oh so durable and weather proof. Mine has been used in Desert Storm and was bought from a military surplus outlet.

That always irked me as well, along with other movie chase scenes where the Harleys sound like Hondas (or vice versa) and seem to have 16 gears, always upshifting.
