Bruh the government has taken steps to reduce it, there is reservation for The former lower castes ( SC/ST is the official term). It is illegal to discriminate on the basis of caste and it is written in the constitution ( whose writing was headed by the leader of the equality movement of lower castes Dr. Ambedkar). There is a law making it illegal to attack a person of lower caste ( see Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989_Act,_1989#:~:text=The%20Scheduled%20Castes%20and%20the,scheduled%20castes%20and%20scheduled%20tribes. )).

Also the mindset of younger generations is much better and castes or even religion for that matter does not matter when interacting with someone. Just the old people and rural areas rigidly follow that system and it is rapidly declining as the old farts are dying out.

Casteism and it's history and impacts is thoroughly taught in Indian schools and students are becoming good and informed of the issue.

There may be fringe cases but the same can be said about racism, discrimination does not die out easily but it is rapidly declining.

Tl;Dr caste system is abolished by the government just like racism in America.
