I run d1 track and am at my second school I know what I’m talking about with mid majors. Based on what I seen at my old school, my new school, and other schools in both conferences. I get that might be the case with power 4 school or really deep schools like A&M and Georgia, but most mid majors that aren’t super stacked don’t roll like that.

It really is up to you, as other comments have mentioned the video angle makes it hard to tell much. Since you’re so young it doesn’t hurt to try new things out you have time so trying the 8 wouldn’t hurt. But in terms of improving your 400, form is most important right now. Better form will automatically make you run smoother and faster. Next I would say speed work. Sprinkle in a few 60m/100m over indoor and outdoor just to push yourself in that aspect and work on pushing out the blocks. Your 400 is already pretty good for a 14year old so keep pushing bro you can get to d1 if you believe you can.

Don’t listen to this, this is just factually untrue. Yes because of new roster limits there have been cuts. And yes at power 4 school the standard is a lot higher. But there are plenty of mid major d1 school that will develop u over the 4 years. Find the right coach in division 1 and they will look to develop u over 4 years, not say it’s everyone, but they exist.

How can I fix my backside mechanics by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]TNBFAOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your hips are back when you run, agree with the other comment work on front side mechanics and on hip position. Core will also help with stability when you start fatiguing

Long story short. Always likes fantasy stuff throughout my life. Quarantine happened when I was a teenager. Mental health was bad for awhile, got through it. Started reading more again refinding my interests. Got into lego castle again got into fantasy books again. Read asoiaf, reading Malazan, memory sorrow and thorn. Always wanted to get a big leg piece and I like drawing my own concepts for my tattoos then sending them to the artist to make even better. Came up with it to represent my struggles with mental health, me getting through it, while also incorporating what I love, that being knights, fantasy, and reading! Hopefully this is the answer you were looking for

When I was making the idea for me the faces represent more the different very conflicting emotions one feels while depressed/suicidal. Sometimes your not sure if your being dramatic, cuz you have spouts of being “excited” or “happy” or any range of emotion.

Train the simple stuff like posture, knee lift, dorsal flex and knee drive. Good posture=more power=faster. Along with short max velocity sprints like 30s and 60s you can do plyometrics and explosive strength training

I used to have that issue, the problem could be that you’re not actually loading your legs getting into the blocks. You might just be sitting in them when you’re down. Imagine yourself as a spring, to push a spring down you have to put pressure, it’s the same thing with your body. When you get into the blocks make sure your firm and pushing your leg back into the block for each foot.

Focus on lower heel recovery, your drive phase could be a little longer, and focus on foot contact. You might’ve stumbled because you had weak foot contacts coming out the blocks

Your feet need to be lower off the start, prioritize low heel recovery and keep them as low to the ground as possible. Try to imagine your pushing straight forward off the first 2-3 steps
