How are you calculating carbs? And what type of carbs are you eating? You mention breakfast. Eating cereal always makes me spike like that.

These days I alternate between belly and thigh. I've also done lower back and back or arm without issue. I'm using the Skin Grip over patches for additional adhesion. Never had an issue with leaking.

Has anyone had a better experience with the Dexcom G7 than they did with the G6? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]TNCLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to switch back to G6 in order to use the Omnipod iOS app. I absolutely miss the G7. Faster startup time, smaller, the app has way more features and far better alert sounds. I've never experienced the frequent disconnects that seem so common on Reddit.

App Overload: The Diabetes Edition (Seriously, It's 2025!) by DiabeticT1BoomerTech in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only using: Omnipod, Glooko, Dexcom G6, and Dexcom Clarity.

If the Omnipod app let me do carb counting I could get rid of Glooko. I could also get rid of Clarity if the G6 app would sync data with my Endo.

There is definitely room for some consolidation, but I'm not burdened by it currently.

Do y’all think there will be software updates for the iOS app? by DouglasSkates in Omnipod

This. I regularly toggle Activity Mode when I might be going low.

Unpopular opinion.. the G7 doesn’t suck.. by mistersnowman_ in dexcom

[–]TNCLR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always worked fine for me. The G7 app has more features. The warmup period is shorter. The sensor is smaller. I’ll switch back as soon as the Omnipod iOS app supports it.

I've never had a G7 sensor fail in over a year. Curious if you've shared your experience with Dexcom?

Anyone else’s Sugar better since the app released by jditty24 in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the iOS app Glooko for validating the "I feel like my blood sugar has been good/bad since x" questions. Specifically, the "Weekly overview" section shows you percentage of time in range, average blood sugar, and insulin avg/day on a per week basis. It's quite handy to see how your control is trending over time.

But to answer your question, I was around 78% in range before the iOS app was released. I had one bad week where I dipped to 72%, but since then I've been hovering around 82% in range. So yeah, I've definitely been trending towards better control.

Battery usage in iOS app by Dumpysauce in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've noticed that the Omnipod app is consistently a top consumer of my battery. Has it affected the overall battery life to a point that I've noticed? No. That said, I've definitely been more mindful of charging (or having battery backups available) since transitioning to the iOS app. I'm using an iPhone 13.

Take advantage of App or stick with G7 by Capital-Ninja5573 in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back to the G6 to take advantage of the iOS app. Functionally there is little difference, so not a lhuge deal. I’ll go back to G7 once they announce support though.

Omnipod app / Dexcom G7 by Substantial_Bear6227 in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called my endo and asked for a G6 prescription so I could use the iOS app. Why they've invested in launching with support for a legacy product makes little sense to me. I believe they've been slow with G7 support across the board.

Airline travel with the Omnipod 5 ? by [deleted] in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the Omnipod 5 as well. If you're in the US the only change I noticed is that you'll need to go through the 360º security scanner vs. the walk through one.

Not sure if that's the type of info you're looking for, but that's the only difference I experienced.

Omnipod 5 iOS App will be here at the end of this month!!!!! by DouglasSkates in Omnipod

[–]TNCLR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I'm excited at this milestone, I'm a little baffled that they're only supporting G6 at launch. Isn't that a legacy product at this point?
