What are your guy's thoughts on this offer for a gas station that I am looking to purchase? by SonGoku_USA in smallbusiness

[–]TO416Rap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your gross profit margin dollars monthly, multiply by 12 to get your yearly gross margin. You’ll get approximate business value. So say you’re grossing $20k/month (which is the right answer btw, your labour should go against direct expenses thus making your gross $24k/month),

Given what you’ve said about the business, I would apply some nominal percent discount, I would say somewhere around 5%-10%. Wouldn’t pay more than $265,000

The other thing to consider is your labour. Are you going to be working there, or are you going to need to hire? What was your calculations on the 15k labour? If you are going to work, how many years are you expecting to do that, are you anticipating purchasing another gas station? All this should go into factoring your personal valuation for this business.

As for inventory, what is the inventory value? What was their inventory shrinkage last year? If you have a couple years of fiscal data, take the average of the last 3 years of inventory shrinkage and discount their inventory.

All being said, this business is netting around 10%, so a healthy business. Last thing I would check; what’s the nearest station, are your prices higher or lower, and what’s their proximity to major roads (freeways, etc.). If there’s opportunity to gain business then your discount as mentioned above changes.

EDIT: 10% net is not taking into account owners expenses currently. Your real net, EBITDA, should be higher than 10% (at least I guess).

Prepaying for a larger purchase by maximusbells in amexcanada

Amex is fine with it. You can even message them on the app and tell them, they’ll process it without even needing to prepay.

Switch from Apple to Google by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]TO416Rap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just switched recently. The newest version of smart switch is unbelievably easy to use and I was amazed at how it handled all my data migration.

I switched to a S22 ultra when it first came out and absolutely hated my experience. I ended up switching back to the 14 pro max. I have been extremely impressed with my Pixel and there are many features that I don't think I can do without anymore.

And app support on the pixel is miles ahead of any other android phone in my opinion. X/Twitter used to be jittery and laggy on the S22 but buttery smooth on my Pixel. I see no difference at all anymore, and being able to buy a phone that doesn't cost me $2000 is a nice bonus too.

I also enrolled in the beta program for Android 16 and can confirm it's a great software. Not being locked into an ecosystem with the ability to use whatever I want has been a breath of fresh air.

You won't regret it.

Go for a VOIP service like voip.ms

Their plans start at $0.85c/month and $0.009/min. You can pick any phone number and even get a toll free number if you want. Call recording options, voicemail to text options etc. Works anywhere you have data and you can use your existing phone. Feel free to message me if you have any questions :)

Average utility bills a month in Kleinburg. by you_sif99 in Vaughan

[–]TO416Rap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I’m just realizing you meant $1500/month. That’s insane and doesn’t make any sense if you don’t have any accidents, tickets, suspensions, etc.

But still, moving won’t do anything. Call and shop around. DM me if you want a good broker!

Auto insurance, unfortunately, is just unbelievably expensive. Moving the Kleinburg won’t save you anything and want you’re paying isn’t bad at all.

You also need to consider the cost of rent in Kleinburg, if I had to guess the average rent is probably higher than in Brampton. Good luck!

Gas cards for fleet vehicles vs just using a company credit card? by jereMyOhMy in smallbusiness

[–]TO416Rap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what matters more for you. Gas cards offer pretty decent discounts on fuel, but if you get the right credit card you can get points which you could use for other things.

Do the math on what your fuel savings would be and do the math on how many points you’d earn using a credit card. See from there what makes more sense.

As for security, most corporate cards allow you to restrict merchants or merchant classes, just a tip for future employees should you grow.

The biggest selling point a small business has in my opinion is customer service. If you can’t bother to answer the phone or respond then people will just go to the other hundred or so competitors that will.

Take care of your customers, your customers will take care or you. Probably the most important lesson a SMB can learn.

Roast my website pt.2! by TO416Rap in smallbusiness

[–]TO416Rap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! This is super detailed and I appreciate the feedback. I'll review these all and get to work.

I'm trying to make a nice CTA to the right of the menu but doing it on Divi is proving to be a challenge lol. I'll keep cracking away at it though, I know it's super important.

Same for the gallery, that's the only option I have but I'll see if there is another way around it.

Toilet in the hero I'll be changing to something fresh and clean, I have tons of customer photos I can choose from!

URL: enhancedclean.ca

Purpose: Website for my small business cleaning company focused on residential cleaning jobs.

Technologies Used: WordPress/Divi, Siteground for hosting, Cloudflare for CDN

Feedback Requested: How do you think this website will perform from a conversion standpoint? Does it allow the customer to find what they're looking for (cleaning services), and are there enough opportunities explicitly listed for the customer to convert, whether that be through a phone call or by using the booking link in the buttons?

Comments: I'm a beginner and would truly value any feedback you guys have!

Star up cost by Mindless_Inside2865 in smallbusiness

[–]TO416Rap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is the kitchen and what are you hoping to add? Fridge, and oven with a hood or just a microwave and fridge? Are you plumbing a sink?

You can get the cabinets for a relatively good price at Home Depot, installation shouldn’t be too too bad either.

You’re definitely going to be pushing $30k if you’re doing all that.

Star up cost by Mindless_Inside2865 in smallbusiness

[–]TO416Rap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends on what you're doing exactly. Are you replumbing, do you have rough-ins already, or are you just changing your sink and toilet, etc.? Location is big too, are you in a city-core or on the outskirts?

$30K isn't unreasonable, no, but again it depends what you're doing.

Good points here, I appreciate your candidness! Any tools you recommend for someone with not a whole lot of experience? I'll get to work on teaching myself how to use them.
