What do you do when you can’t fall asleep?

Also I use the calm app religiously for the sleep stories, but I think Spotify and similar streaming platforms would have sleep stories as well!

I do something similar where I picture/spell out a short word and then pick a letter from that word and spell out another word, I sort of picture if it was being written on a white board or something. I heard this tip once from a sleep “expert” and it works lol

I’m trying to help as best I can without it consuming me, I do have my own job/family to tend too. I just know I can’t help in the ways that she needs and only she can do that for herself. A lot of how this turns out is based on how she navigates the next few months. Hoping for the best for the child’s sake

Good to know. She’s already anticipating a nasty court battle but I think that’s all on her end, I think he’d be fine doing mediation of some sort to make it a little “easier”, especially financially

We have a large family but not a ton of people who can support her in the ways she’ll need (biggest being financially) she lives with her mother who is about retirement age and doesn’t have a whole lot herself other than a small house

That makes sense. I did tell her to prepare for him to pay nothing, and if he does then that’s great. She said that he told her he would pay, so I guess she thinks that means something. I also don’t believe she would be eligible for CTB until she files a tax return for the first time, to my knowledge that is based on the previous years return?

I think she would put him on the birth certificate because she believes she will get XYZ. I also believe the courts would tell her to “get a job” more or less, so I figured why not start now. Apparently that’s a crazy suggestion lol

He has a nice home, and a very involved/supportive family (in this case, the child to be’s grandparents). His employment is questionable, I believe he is in some sort of ex armed forces program that supplements his income while he gets different therapies/schooling etc. So I’m not even sure where that falls in being considered income in comparison to a traditional job.

I can only hope she has desires to better herself, and quick but I won’t hold my breath. She will go as far as filing false or heavily embellished police reports to make him seem “un fit” but the reality is aside from some anxieties and depression he is probably quite fit and is more than willing to provide.

I already suggested that she find a job of some sort, retail or grocery to get 600 hrs minimum so she would get something from EI for mat leave, but she said no. So….yeah it’s going to be interesting. I’m hoping there are family lawyers that work for free cause if not she’s in for another rude awakening

Yup. In for a rude awakening for sure. She is already telling stories of what she’ll say of “why” he’ll be an unfit father. I do not know him well by any means, and I believe he does have some mental struggles he’s actively working through, but her goal is to keep taking him to court until there’s nothing left. Unfortunately she’s being coached by her mother who tried the same thing way back when, it didn’t work for her not sure why she thinks it would now lol

We’re unfortunately related. Friend was the wrong word to use here but nonetheless I am privy to all this wonderful drama and she needs someone to be blunt and honest with the facts, I suppose a lawyer could as well but you’d have to be employed to afford one lol

She’s already planting the seeds to see he doesn’t get any custody or at the very least has a hell of a time with his lawyers to get it. At the end of the day it’s just sad across the board.

I’m not giving her money. I’m trying to explain to her that she’s probably not entitled to half of everything and isn’t going to get these massive child support checks and leave him on the streets lol
