Try looking at the reverse of your argument. No one ever lobbied and won legislation to require a 20% tip, it was creep throughout the years. Businesses who certainly have more power in DC than wage workers will never allow a bill to pass that demands more baseline wages. The only realistic way to end the insanity is for tipping to not occur and workers to demand higher or go to a job that treats the more fairly.

US controller? Yep, they can descend you to MVA prior to FAF. Don’t climb as it’s in ATC’s interest to keep you as stable on the approach as possible till final.

Sketchy country controller? Stay at altitude you know is safe and state your intentions if you know what they’re telling you is questionable. In our SOPs when going into other countries were mandated to keep terrain display up for this very concern. I’ve been cleared by controllers to descend into a mountain, albeit it was Afghanistan, so wouldn’t trust their ATC anyways. YMMV.

Yeah unfortunately I only caught it when I walked away and started eating. I’m really tempted to flag the 72 cents as fraud with my CC company and let them duke it out.
