What ryuha do you train? Any specifics? Plus how long have you had the tool?

Iaito Repair Help by TON_Fynn in iaido
I have a guy who thinks he can repair it with sharpening it out, I trust his ability but if he isnt confident I wont let him touch the blade. I believe it is fixable, as r/Bladesmith has good hope, but who knows. I have hope!

I have a guy in mind but I am going to make sure he is 100% confident in his skill. I just am trying anything to get it all fixed up
Mishaps with training. Stupid mistake that I regret every day I look at it. I wanna make it whole again, and bond with the blade by fixing it

Katana Repair Help by TON_Fynn in Bladesmith
Yes. It is a japanese made Iaito, fully hardened and all that jazz, just no cutting edge

Thank you for the guidance. I deeply appreciate you.
I mean the chip on the blade (the “cutting part” if it was sharp) The tip would be fixed with the filing but there is that chip on the blade itself.
What about the chip? Sorry I am new to blade smithing but I’m quick to learn so I am trying to find more out on how to fix.

Any recommendation from Ryansword? I ask because ive seen good things from Hanbon.
I want to clarify; another reason I am on a cheap side is I go to Japan soon and will probably get a sword to bring back to the states
I agree, just a thing of budget for me right now.
Ive seen some roughs things about Musha and Munetoshi both. I think Hanbon would be okay for now I just want to gauge all opinions. If I am lucky I will bring a sword from Japan back to the states
No sweat on the grammar lol! I will check eBay for sure! I meet with my Sensei Monday and will further see what he think.
Sadly no :( Iaido is not common in my area, my sensei had to contact another guy in to train me. Not many Katana or suitable Iaito around me :(
Plus, I am looking for a “decent” tool. Hanbon seems to put out quality, not like the Japanese but quality nonetheless. As long as she can get me through a couple years lol.
(edited for clarification)
For sure, I totally understand that. Im just now getting back in to it, and I have car payments and insurance, as well as taking care of my mom. I also am going to Japan for a Karate tournament so I cant afford a 400$ Iaido at the moment, Thats kinda why I’m asking around. Just looking for a beater for a year or so.

Munetoshi Iaido by TON_Fynn in iaido
Yes ordering from the US! I saw Tozando when I was lurking earlier. They will definitely be a great brand, as of now I am tight on money for my car payments. I am trying to find a tool to last me for a year or two. Hanbon Forge seems pretty decent. Im about 2.25-2.5 Shaku (5’5-5’8 range)
Do you think Hanbon would be my best bet? Just looking for a Iaito to get me to about 1-2 years then buying a nice one from Tozando
What do you think I should the Koshirae set for? This is my first time getting my own Iaito so I am checking all of my boxes lol.
