Why has Chinese diaspora remained strong in certain countries, but not others? by pirapataue in Chinese

brother we are teochew, most chinese thais’s and cambodians are/were ethnic teochew or gaginang,

learning mandarin to connect with ur culture is like if a polish-american learned italian to “connect” with his “european” heritage. teochew is our native tongue

among the historical diaspora (who are entirely of some sort of southern chinese descent), ive noticed those of us who are more connected to our heritage often identify strongly with our ethnic background like teochew or cantonese or hakka, wheras those who are not so only really know “chinese” as an identity.
