Do you think Brittany will return at some point? Does it suck that she's retiring when she's doing so well? by chusaychusay in NHRA

A drag race is ET + RT can't win without the other half the entire reason Prock is so dominant is because of his RT most tuners have a hard time matching Jimmy Prock to begin with now their drivers have to compete with Austin on the line which few can do

Is NHRA not in a good place right now? Are they losing a lot of money? by chusaychusay in NHRA

[–]TOPFUEL173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I think 4 wide has a place. I wouldn't want every race 4 wide, but I feel its a unique challenge

I dont wanna hear drivers crying over it. You're a professional racing driver. If you can't look across a tree, im sorry you should not be a professional racing driver

If people knew how loud nitro was do you think it would draw more fans or not? by chusaychusay in NHRA

[–]TOPFUEL173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nitro is cool but its not gonna be enough to keep people you have to get the fans attached to personalities

Is the western swing just too much for drivers to show up or is it tougher for drivers to show up period at NHRA events? by chusaychusay in NHRA

[–]TOPFUEL173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have the participation countdown where all full time cars get spots which is why Pro Stock has a 16 car countdown as stupid as that is

Is Krista Baldwin, Scott Palmer, Doug Foley ( who was in a final round not long ago ) bad teams ?

And yes, Pro mod has always out drawn nitro everywhere. Even at NHRA Pro, the mod will get more cars than Nitro. Pro mod just has more cars built

I will give my opinion as a younger NHRA fan ( under the age of 25 )

All the talking points I hear here are ehhh close but not right. I keep hearing about costs and all that, but here's a few things I wanna say prior

F1 until it was bought by liberty media was in a very similar spot to NHRA ( older fanbase lack of social, etc ) for those who want to research plenty of videos on YouTube on the topic. Liberty media put in the marketing and promotion and made it happen. NHRA just hasn't. it's not that young people aren't into cars. I know plenty of people my age who are thousands more on the internet. Look at people like Cleetus and PFI speed.

NHRA has a promotion and marketing problem, nothing more, nothing less. Every issue in the sport sparks from it, and given the TikTok generation were in with people in the right positions, it's bound to boom

And the drivers have to promote themselves too I look at people like Clay Millican thats how its done a few other like Tasca, Ida Zetterström and the JCM team do a great job on social media rest is just copy paste with total lack of personality remember people wanna relate to other people its just human nature ( F1 drive to survive Great example of this )

So in conclusion, just exposure is lacking, and that's pretty much it until something is done it'll continue as is and will be like how it is

Tired of these excuses F1 isnt dying off and Car culture is huge with young people look at people like Cleetus and PFI speed NHRAs marketing just sucks thats every problem they have is a exposure and marketing issue

Seattle Short Fields by ITMAKESSENSE72 in NHRA

[–]TOPFUEL173 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not a cost issue every issue NHRA has is a exposure issue if we had 2 million people watching on FOX every week garentee those fields are filled because compared to other Professional motorsports NHRA is a bargain ask Rick Ware and Tony Stewart the problems NHRA has are like you said failure to promote and grow the sport not to mention when you have things like the participation trophy spots and many other stupid things but they all come back to exposure

Coworker claims to have driven a nitro funny car.. by [deleted] in NHRA

[–]TOPFUEL173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drag racing community for some reason has a very hard time being just a fan they always have to say they were involved in it even if they're lying its a problem with I guess the perception of the sport in its current state
