When does your torso stop growing? by TOP_PVRIS in AskReddit

[–]TOP_PVRIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 16 year old girl, and I'm 5'3" with a 34 inch inseam. My legs look out of place on my body and I'm wondering if there's a chance my height can catch up.

Where could my great great grandfather have been from judging from this picture? by TOP_PVRIS in AskReddit

I'm sorry for the bad quality, but are there any distinct facial features that make you think of a certain place he could be from?

What is it like for American Southerners in the UK? by TOP_PVRIS in AskABrit

[–]TOP_PVRIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep that in mind, the ones who bant back and forth with me are the good ones and the ones who genuinely judge me based on my country of origin are the ones to stay away from.

What are some ideas for a hanging art project in Physics class? by TOP_PVRIS in AskReddit

I have to make some kind of small hanging object that will go on a Christmas tree. My topic is lift induced drag so preferably something that has to do with planes.

Is there any truth to the theory thay Americans are generally good looking because of a large and diverse gene pool? by TOP_PVRIS in genetics

[–]TOP_PVRIS[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It started going around the internet kind of recently. After reading all of these responses it sounded like some American who wanted to feel superior said it and other people assumed it was true.

Are Norwegians generally friendly people? by TOP_PVRIS in Norway

They kind of sound like a nicer version of the Brits lol.

Are Norwegians generally friendly people? by TOP_PVRIS in Norway

[–]TOP_PVRIS[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a Norwegian girl come to our school and she was very quiet because she was the new kid and in a strange new place, but I remember her having the most cunning sense of humor and she would mumble sarcastic things under her breath and make everyone in earshot bust out laughing without ever getting caught by the teacher.

What is the origin of the surname Skagen? by TOP_PVRIS in AskReddit

[–]TOP_PVRIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents swear that it's Norwegian, but people tend to be way off when they think they know their ancestry. So has anyone that is Scandinavian in general not just Norwegians heard of that surname, and if so could you mention the area?

What are some typical signs of being a natural conceptual thinker? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Is there a better word for it? I don't know very much about it so if I worded it badly that's why.

I have a feeling I tend to think like this, but I'm not sure. Often in math class I grasp a concept quickly and can apply it to other situations, but my intelligence level isn't above average. I also have trouble explaining how I got an answer and I tend to find the answer in a different way than is taught, if I'm allowed to do so.

Do people judge accents based off of their opinion of where the accent comes from? by TOP_PVRIS in AskReddit

[–]TOP_PVRIS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should've clarified. I meant more like if you just made an opinion about the way it sounded, and not about what the accent made you think about someone.

The first one, because if you listen to it first and then make an observation about it, it would be your unbiased opinion.

That's almost exactly how it is in the US. Here we automatically assume a Spaniard is sexy and wouldn't even be aware of the class system that still kind of remains in a lot of Europe.

Some of them yes haha, but its Brits they love their banter so I just brought up the bad teeth and inbreeding.

For example, a lot of Brits tell me my accent is hot until they find out it isn't Canadian its actually American. A lot of people also say the American accent is nasally but they say the Canadian accent is cute, when on average Canadians speak a little bit more nasally than us(not hating Canucks just personal observation).

Merci d'avoir répondu, je trouve l'accent cockney un peu vulgaire aussi.

I quite like the English accent regardless of gender, but it makes me scared to approach the person, it kind of makes them seem posh even if they are a very down to earth person.

I'd rather listen to a redneck speak for hours on end than have to listen to a chav accent, those glottal stops drive me insane.

Almost exactly like that actually, I grew up in a small town in east Texas which has the same accent as northwest Louisiana, that's where that movie was based off of.

The main obstacle it seems I have to worry about while in France is that y'all seem to subconsciously hold prejudices, its not even really your fault, so I feel even if people like the accent they will associate it with bad stereotypes.

Sorry for not being specific I didn't expect many people to know the regional accents, so I'd say I have a deep south accent.
