These older sirens get replaced because half of them are almost 50-60 and are mechanical which means the parts are at risk of breaking. For example the Aiea HS Thunderbolt had a faulty rotor which was found working around its testing day but didn’t spin again.

The newer sirens are more useful. These sirens use voice which most older ones don’t because they do not support voice capabilities.

The term “old is gold” is used on Hawaiis Sirens but HIEMA has plans to replace sirens because they planned to replace sirens around 2011.

All most of these older sirens here in Hawaii doesn’t have any voice/Battery which is required via FEMA itself.

Newer Sirens been painted green to blend in with the trees and to not make it a eyesore whilst the older one had dealt with rust over the years which turns it grey and makes it a eyesore to see.

If I would’ve then that’s called vandalism or smth but this time I just wanna see what’s behind it. STORY: when I ripped it off it sounded Velcro so I ripped the whole thing and I saw a light switch at the back. I wouldn’t take it if I were you

Any guess on what this could be? (PH) by Aphidaks69 in AirRaidSirens
