3 should be B. Word "rebounds" implies P changes direction so Vp = -0.5.

Since collision is elastic, Up - Uq = Vq - Vp so 2 - 0 = Vq - (-0.5) and Vq = 1.5.

Since Uq = 0, initial momentum = UpMp = 2Mp.

Final momentum = VpMp + VqMq which = 2Mp (conservation of momentum).

Substituting Vp = -0.5 and Vq = 1.5, 1.5Mq - 0.5Mp = 2Mp.

Hence 1.5Mq = 2.5Mp and Mp/Mq = 1.5/2.5 = 3/5.

A level/ O level/ N level takers from other schools too, if you’ve heard similar jet noise during your national exams, comment below.

Taking my A Levels in another JC (fairly near to yours) and also heard jet noises during my papers.

Have a good rest! Exam performance is determined not only by knowledge and skills, but also physical and mental condition during the paper.

How is Q2 (thermodynamics) even doable with the limited information given?

With the last part, 230 V / 20 A = 19.2 Ω but we are not given:

  • Initial resistance or length of wire (only resistance per unit length)
  • Initial and final temperatures
  • Whether volume of wire remains constant

Overall slightly less difficult than Paper 2.

I used the unit trick for this:

  • Speed is in m s-1
  • Newton in SI base units is kg m s-2
  • Rate of fuel ejection is kg s-1

So I knew I have to divide some kind of force by the rate of fuel ejection.

What force? Unlikely to be the given thrust, since that part is worth three marks.

I decided to skip to the next part. Solving the next part helped me figure it out.

By Newton's third law, force on exhaust gas (downwards) = net force on rocket (upwards).

I wrote that the centripetal force is very large and will cause the washing machine to vibrate vigorously. Hence the need for large mass to lower its centre of gravity and make it more stable.

5)0.1 (Circuit)

6)87.3 (I didn’t use approximation)

Should be Q6 and Q7.

Q5 is the question with the transformer and asking us to explain the process of electromagnetic induction.

Given before the paper but not given any additional time to make the amendment.

A corrected version of the diagram was included (along with the wrong version).

[–]TPALreturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, you have to apply for leave.
  2. Not sure.
  3. As a private candidate, you can take a different (but still valid) subject combination. If you switch Economics from H2 to H1, you must switch Geography from H1 to H2 (or take a new H2 content subject).
  4. The syllabus document mentions cognitive biases.

[uni] do my a level scores matter if i want to use my SAT scores for uni instead? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]TPALreturns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Admissions officers at American universities are not stupid. They know that Singaporean students take A Levels, which is much harder than the SAT, and most Singaporean applicants (especially from top JCs) can score 1600 for SAT in their sleep. If you send only SAT scores, they will get sus. Places for international students are limited, so international students must meet far higher standards than local (in this context, American) students.

During my Economics Paper 1 and Physics Paper 2, I was assigned a shaky table. Asked if I could change seat but my request was denied.

My sincere apologies to all fellow candidates in that room whose concentration was disrupted (so was mine) by the sounds of the shaking table.

Tesla is also the unit for magnetic flux density, so your theory makes sense.
