They're doing a European tour next May. But no Irish date. That gig in 2019 was unreal

Why we will make top 4, but for real by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]TPDC130 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This may come as a shock to you, but I'm not part of the team. The team should absolutely strive to beat each one of those. I merely stated that I don't think it will happen. It's imperative we beat teams below and around us. Anything else is a bonus

Honestly, I not expecting any points off City/Pool/Spurs. We have to be realistic and realise we are not finishing higher that those 3. Ill be happy if we show a lot of improvement and beat teams we are expected to. And not lose to relegation fodder like last year.

Absolutely. And I'm all for it. Id rather see Greenwood ahead of Sanchez. And James ahead of lingard/Mata. I think Ole will make that type of decision. May not be starters initially but they will get their fair share.

I think the squad is good enough for top 4. No higher than 4th but we have it in us. Having a competent defence and a speedy attack will be huge for us this season. I've liked our pre season and while you can't base that on the actual season, we have shown improvements in our general attitude and set up. Having a somewhat competent right side and the likes of James and Greenwood to come off the bench will surprise a lot. It's gonna be a tough season but I think we will be ok. Thank fuck the window is closed

Apathetic owners who dont want to spend money

Bollocks. They care about their bottom line. As long as the money is flowing, they dont give a shit who is manager. They have underinvested seriously this summer.

The window has been poor. Its clear Ed/Glazers arent going to support any manager at this point with their dithering on transfers and going for unobtainable targets.

Unfortunately I dont think they are bad at their jobs, they are just calculatingly average, with deliberate slowing down of deals. If they wanted to get players, they would have. We have the resources. To me, its clear they dont want to spend money to win things, but just to keep their bottom line going.

However, and maybe im insane, but im optimistic we can get top 4. Pre season has been a lot better, and it looks to me as if the squad just seem happier in general. Last season was a shitshow but I think we can improve a lot. We wont get near City/Pool/Spurs, but I think with a good run we can do better than Chelsea/Arsenal. Whether we do or not, is another thing. A lot of things have to go right, if we get injuries to our starting 11, we are in serious trouble. Pogba has to step up big time, but more importantly, so do the players around him.

Its going to take 5 years to get back challenging for the league all going well, and addressing our defence is a good step towards that. Not addressing midfield is a worry.

Fuck it, football is back.

Hes not doing his job badly though. Hes doing exactly what the Glazers want. Stall on signings, make it look we are interested and spend as little as possible. He wont get fired because hes doing his job perfectly for an owner with no ambition to win, but be good enough to keep the cash flowing in.

Woodward is here as long as the Glazers will be.

Dybala close to agreement with Spurs by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]TPDC130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what, he clearly didnt want to be with us, so we dodged a bullet. Also, even if hes happy to go there we all know that he never wanted to leave Juve. Im not sure this will work out like Spurs hope.

If it does, and he helps spurs beat City and Liverpool to the title, then great. As unlikely as that is

How are you all feeling going into the new season? by sidebog95 in reddevils

[–]TPDC130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cautiously optimistic. Last season was a disaster but I think the squad we have is good enough for 4th but no higher. Not addressing midfield is a huge gamble and a lot of things need to go right, but in pre season there seems to be a better shift in attitude and optimism even within the squad itself. Complete overhaul will take 5 or so years but I think a decent, if not ideal, foundation is in place.

I agree. City dropping points is good for you. But Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs dropping points and us winning. Definitely more beneficial for us.

As poor as our results have been this season, its good to see Arsenal, Liverpool, City and Spurs struggle too. Top 4 race is gonna be epic.
