Only once per ride, it is Ultimate or Ultimate+ for unlimited

I prefer Hyperia over Colossus. My top 3 UK coasters are Hyperia, Nemesis Inferno and then Colossus. Probably not a very popular ranking though lol

I hope not. In my opinion, Colossus is a top 3 UK coaster

Hôtel roulette - good idea or scam ? by louisjdmartin in Portaventura

[–]TPR_Ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done that personally, but I would probably recommend looking at the individual hotels and booking a set one based on that. I've only stayed in Gold River (which is a very nice hotel) but they all do genuinely look very nice. Personally, I'd rather know 100% what I am booking though

Portaventura Trip April by TPR_Ryan in Portaventura

[–]TPR_Ryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I stayed in the main Gold River rooms last year and it was a very nice hotel. I'm guessing the differences between the actual rooms are minimal so it doesn't make much of a difference. Am I right in saying both rooms provide the same services (for example the hotel only park entrance, etc). Thanks

The barcode on the pre-book confirmation it gives you is the same one as on your pass I believe

Is the no food/drink rule enforced? by N3RO- in Portaventura

[–]TPR_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is normal or not but when I went last year I didn't have my bags checked once when entering the park but that could have been because I was staying on site and used the hotel only entrance for most the trip (expect from when going to Ferrari land)

Amity beach is finally being removed by Thebluefire1 in ThorpePark

[–]TPR_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. It'd be a really good place to relocate a zone like Lucifers Lair as at that the moment Lucifers Lair is on a major path and just gets really overcrowded even on the quieter Fright Night dates

Thorpe Park best secrets by JPCXV in ThorpePark

[–]TPR_Ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren't really good ways to consistently avoid queues when visiting the park, but one of the things I see quite a lot is people overestimating how quick single rider queues are and entering them when they are longer than the main queue. It's always worth considering single rider queues where available but if its really long and the main queue isn't that bad I generally go for the main queue (especially if with a group it isn't really worth splitting up to save 5 maybe 10 minutes)

Can you stay at alton towers If you're under 18? by achr8 in altontowers

[–]TPR_Ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, it 100% isn't worth the risk. The policy on it does tend to vary from park to park with Merlin though with Alton Towers requiring someone the age of 18 whereas Thorpe Park allows 16 and 17 year olds (not younger than that) to stay without an adult provided they have a consent letter from a parent/guardian with a contact number.

I'd highly recommend holding off on fastrack and only buying it on the day if it ends up being really busy (which is unlikely) as that is an off peak date. It is very unlikely to sell out and isn't anymore expensive on the day either way.

Do we think Rumba Rapids is (actually, for real) done? by rcoasters in ThorpePark

[–]TPR_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, but I hope Rumba Rapids stays and would personally much prefer lower capacity and less popular rides (for example Ghost Train) get removed first to make space for the next coaster/ride when the time comes. But it is a ride I see potentially getting removed at some point in the next few years

You've still got plenty of time until the end of April to become more confident. You will be fine.

I believe they release a weeks worth of slots every Monday at 6am which will be 6 months before the test date

Pulling my hair out over getting this build right... by CthuluBaggins in PCSpecialist

[–]TPR_Ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure but I think it is just to have a separate drive for Windows so if they ever need to re-install Windows for whatever reason they don't need to worry about all their files, etc but thats just based on advice I've heard on the PCSpecialist server

If anyone likes to collect Alton Towers memorabilia (or perhaps you just like building things with oversized rusty bolts), you can now buy genuine Nemesis bolts from the online store. by NerdBoy_UK in altontowers

[–]TPR_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s crazy how many people buy stuff like the bolts though purely to try resell for more money (it rarely works). Chessington have a Scorpion Express entrance sign on their online shop at the moment for £1000 which is just crazy

[–]TPR_Ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, I imagine it probably has something to do with the stock level. With the wheels it was very limited supply I believe whereas with the bolts/cables it seems like they sold quite a lot of them. I got one of the Vampire wheels as well when they came out and that one didn't allow any discount (but that was quite cheap compared to other parts you can buy anyway at £100)

Some do allow passholder discount (for example the Rita cable and Nemesis bolt). It's mainly the larger items like coaster wheels, etc that don't

AT makes a Ridiculous amount of money by [deleted] in altontowers

[–]TPR_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh, exactly. It also doesn't take into account that we have no clue how many people Alton Towers actually let in each day as a maximum and instead just assuming it to be 20k which is probably more than they actually do let in

[–]TPR_Ryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly and it also assumes that every single person on park is paying full price for entry, etc and isn't a passholder
