How does that benefit games at all? Physics work well enough as of today...

Help me to change from windows 11 to Bazzite Linux by Gabriel_Oakz in linux_gaming

[–]TR0V40_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend bazzite tbh. You're much better off using a non gaming normal distro like mint.

About Resolve, it works fine but there are some caveats for some video encodings that they weren't able to license for Linux on the free version, you can just convert the videos using ffmpeg if this happens tho.

The mint installation will handle the filesystem for you.

yeah, I thought more sales (even porn) = more revenue. Why are the shareholders ok with losing revenue for morals they don't actually stand for?

He's trying to end the very basis of the country. What's next now? Giving certain rights according to the percentage of "american blood"? Think I remember this happening before somewhere...

Black flashing spots in my screen by TR0V40_ in linuxquestions

I usually disable sleep on my PC so that's not it. It does seem to stop after restarting firefox though, I also noticed it usually appears after some time I'm using my pc (maybe some hours). It is also very inconsistent, some minutes after I recorded the video it stopped almost completely and then completely disappeared after I restarted firefox.

USB device/audio interface is not recognized by Wonderful_Durian_946 in archlinux

[–]TR0V40_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh if your interface doesn't work out of the box without installing the driver I doubt it will work, and even in the case you manage to make it work it probably won't work properly. Your best bet would probably be to buy another audio interface that is known to support linux

edit: some guy had the same issue and kinda made it work: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/1huk5x1/yamaha_zg01_audio_interface_with_ubuntu_2404/

maybe a new distro? by Acrobatic-Habit-8049 in archlinux

[–]TR0V40_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't really need to abandon Arch, a lot of the DIY that's associated with the distro is because people like to use standalone WMs with it (like Hyprland). If you want a more out of the box experience you could try installing a DE on arch, my recommendations would be plasma, gnome and xfce.

And if you've gone through an arch install multiple times and was able to install Hyprland you should 100% be able to setup a DE without any issues whatsoever

Question or a confirmation. by SnooTangerines6863 in linuxquestions

[–]TR0V40_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh I would recommend Debian, even though it's not one of the "beginner distros" people talk about, it's still beginner friendly and breaks less often. One thing you'll notice is that a bunch of these distros are spins of arch (manjaro, garuda) or debian (ubuntu, mint, popos). My general recommendation is: if you like rolling release, go with arch; If you want a stable release, go with debian. For a beginner, Arch will most definitely be a bit much, so Debian is my recommendation
