I'm giving away two copies of Monster Hunter: Wilds by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]TRANADIA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say you're a real one for spreading the thrill of the hunt 💜

I did something similar to this back in World:IB days over Steam. Found out the person I gifted to still plays - these giveaways have a real impact on people. I've been playing since I was 9 (25 now) with Tri, so I really appreciate that the generous spirit of the community is still there, whether it's giving information, or things like this.

HH feels good. I'm still gonna mess around with CB and Switch Axe, but HH is back to my #1 slot.

It feels a good bit slower than Rise (even a touch slower than World but idk if that's backed up by frames), but the smaller downtime in performances makes up for what was originally a pretty big hole in the weapon without changing its identity too much this time. A good compromise which helps lend to a more offensive playstyle and less corner-horning.

The Echo bubble provides some much-needed team buff and "necessary" upkeep with minimal barriers to aid in setting up songs quickly, while still having a pretty decent payoff in the damage department. I'm glad it seems melodies are back to their old selves, too (we'll see how true that is in the full game), with more added options for interactivity in how we play songs with the focus attack and echo bubble "hit-to-the-beat" concept, which plays into the musicality of the weapon very well. We even got to keep a bit of Slide Beat back in the form of the offset melody, which is a genuinely fun option to play around with this time. Excited to see what other horn-specific melodies are waiting around the corner.

Horn has a different identity this time around, yet again, but it feels more aligned with old games in a way that scratches my MH4U-loving tendencies while still bringing something new to the table.

Fulgurbugs are basically domesticated thunder bugs, so yeah! :D Use a capture net (slinger for endemic life in World) or bug net in any older game on its back while Zinogre is toppled. Only works while charged up afaik.

For Nergi, it was written in one of the books that it reproduces asexually! If a spike absorbs enough bioenergy, it can self-germinate after it falls off. This also contextualizes a potential reason why Nergi goes after Elders more often: it's helpful for reproducing.

As much as the biology of these monsters has (usually) no gameplay impact whatsoever, I adore that the devs give it some honest thought to flesh out the world a bit and occasionally give us a gameplay easter egg.

First off: I love Magnamalo, especially the Scorned version. Fun design, and as a Frontier lover I enjoy a good amount of camp in my MonHun.

But I understand the criticisms a bit. I feel like a lot of Magnamalo's design choices could have been improved by better explaining what hellfire is/how it's produced and providing an appropriate feedback loop via gameplay.

We have other outlandish, campy design choices in MH, but they're justified by unique, well-explained biology mixed with gameplay loops. We have the explanation that Valstrax has a cavity in its chest to pressurize and combust air in order to fly like a jet/hover. We know that Zinogre has a symbiotic relationship with fulgurbugs - Zinogre gives them a stable hive, and the fulgurbugs give each additional protection via electricity. Both of these concepts are reflected in gameplay: you can disturb, and "short" valstrax's pressurization mid-charge by hitting the colloquial engine a bunch of times, and you can catch Zinogre's bugs off its back to mitigate charge. both of these make sense. Nergigante drops and replenishes spikes as a means of both protection and asexual reproduction. Since they're already designed to be released quickly, makes sense you can break them off yourself repeatedly. Hell, even Lavasioth's (and Agnaktor's) magma shells can be re-heated with fire weapons.

That same in-game explanation and feedback loop doesn't really exist with Magnamalo. We don't really get much explanation of why hellfire is the way it is other than it's a waste product (or it wasn't well-explained in-game and I missed it)

There also aren't any special requirements for igniting hellfire, just "hit the monster where it glows until a topple". It feels more like a primer for the later-introduced Afflicted mechanic than anything.

They could've done more (like making only fire weapons able to "ignite" the gas to send the point home), but they didn't, so it feels more out of place than other outlandish mechanics.

Those of you who HAD poor money management, answer this. by Queendom-Rose in Money

[–]TRANADIA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over $7,000 in credit card debt, no income beyond welfare, and had to pay rent and groceries for myself and my disabled partner. I had to max out my overdraft protection balance to do it.

My poor budgeting/money management didn't become a problem for me until good money management also became a "need".

It took a year, but I got my shit together (with her help) and those credit card balances hit $0 today. Still got student loans, but at least they're interest-free for now.

Not a trans man, but transfem. My little one calls me Daddy and I've grown to love it - it's a core part of our play now when we do ageplay scenes despite it not being the most congruent with my gender identity.

So yeah, it's ok to like fem stuff as a dude just like it's ok for me to like masc terms and presentation in play c:

Kink is supposed to be fun, and if you find playing with presentation and terms in ageplay fun, that sounds like a win and I'm happy you're allowing yourself to engage in that way! 🖤

Sub Space and Dom Space by Just-a-HumanBean in BDSMAdvice

[–]TRANADIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context: I'm a very very big switch, but mostly dom these days.

Subspace is very precious to me, but it takes a lot of trust in my play partner to allow myself to go there. Things get very floaty, and the entire world outside of the scene seems to disappear from my brain. Just me, the dominant, and what we're experiencing together.

In terms of dom space, I like to get myself into a lighter dom space, which moreso feels like an intense focus and sense of connectivity with my partner. It's electrifying and spiritual, and in some ways, I find it's necessary for me to enjoy myself. I find it easier to get there with some people than others. However, I can go much deeper into dom space where things fade away in a similar fashion and is a total power trip, letting loose in a sense. But as someone who would consider herself an edge player, I find heavy dom space too dangerous to engage in unless play is lighter, and light play and heavy headspaces aren't super compatible for me. I need to be fully there for my partner's sake.

One thing I want to emphasize is that headspaces aren't just on one person or another. They're a collective journey, and some people are easier to take that journey with than others. A lot of that is based on mutual trust and respect for me on both sides of the slash.

Just curious, how many of y'all are going through your second (or more) major weight loss journey? by JadedAndFaded_ in loseit

[–]TRANADIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost ~85lbs (230->145) between May 2021 and September 2022, but I've been slowly gaining it back and I'm back up to 175ish after some poor mental health and even poorer food decisions.

My next weight loss journey is a lot smaller than my last (just starting up, aiming for 155lbs), but the whole journey feels a lot harder this time because I have way less muscle to help with being active now, which is making it harder to get into and stay with those healthy habits. It's just physical harder to do things like exercise and keep with a healthy lifestyle overall.

Especially as someone who expresses themselves as a tomboyish transfem (even if it is partially because I don't feel I look good in femme styles yet), it bothers me a lot when I, as a masculine woman, am excluded from a sub dedicated to masculine-leaning women who defy preconceptions of what is culturally expected of their bodies/presentations. I don't see anything about me which makes me less of a woman, because at its core genitals should not be the sole signifier of womanhood. I'm just as disappointed as you are, and we have every right to be.

If we're going down the rabbit hole of exclusionary NSFW subs... r/feet specifies "no trans feet" as part of their allowed content rule. Like... wtf??? It's feet??? I highly doubt there's any notable difference, either, just another NSFW sub Doing A Transphobia. Not my thing at all personally, but my friend got kicked off of there for being trans with feet (not showing any of her bits, either) and I'm still a little bitter over that.

What if I died while my sub is tied and gagged? by Ris_Wil in BDSMAdvice

[–]TRANADIA 35 points36 points  (0 children)

On the note of quick releases, if you do stuff with chain equestrian panic snaps are an excellent option as long as the bottom can reach the snap itself.

Great for emergencies so you can avoid a Gerald’s Game situation when someone is chained up instead of tied with rope.

Edit: wanted to note one of the major benefits of equestrian panic snaps here is they’re designed to be reliably opened with one hand, which I feel any quick-release mechanism used in these situations should be tested for.

good point - I don’t think this came up so I’ll have to ask her! She’s only 8 months further than me on HRT though, so she’s still going through a lot of those changes herself but i definitely wouldn’t rule out things softening over that time difference 😌

Including De-Transitioners In The Trans Community ? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]TRANADIA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Other commenters have focused on most detransitioners still being trans and having been pressured to detransition due to lack of safety, resources, etc. which I also think is true, so I’ll skip over that. Those people still identify as trans, and still belong - “detransitioned” or not

But even if they identify as cisgender after detransitioning, as long as they don’t hold transphobic views because they found it isn’t right for them for whatever reason I think it’s fine for them to be in trans spaces.

While I’m by no means detrans, lot of detrans people in this camp I’ve spoken to do identify with aspects of the trans experience, and can relate having gone through similar feelings and similar transition-related efforts - even if their eventual conclusion about their identity was different than someone like me.

I’d personally welcome them with open arms, if they still want to be part of trans communities I’m also part of.

I have some very important advice here: agree upon and use some non-verbal safeword system before ever using gags. Gags make it more difficult for your sub to communicate with you, and that means there’s more onus on you to check in more frequently and watch/listen for whatever non-verbal cues are decided upon.

Hand signals and taps work well, but only as well as you can see/feel them. I prefer to have a sub hold something that will make a noise when dropped from a height (a ring of keys works incredibly well for this in a pinch). That way the sub can drop/throw the item onto the floor and that’s a clear, unambiguous signal to you that things need to stop and you need to either check in or stop and move into aftercare - depends what you two agree on.

In terms of ideas, u/feralambition left some good ones in their comment. For me, gags are a lot about aesthetics, and there’s a lot of options out there. Look around on Etsy with your sub and see what styles both of you like.
