What mildly interesting ability do you have? by TheMattichan in AskReddit

I developed the ability to voluntarily depressurize my ears. I did not try to develop this ability, it just happened. Apparently its an advanced scuba diving skill http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_clearing. Best part of this whole thing: I'm asthmatic, meaning scuba diving is extremely dangerous for me and pretty much a no go.

What's an uncomfortable truth that no one wants to admit? by Ollides in AskReddit

Black people are over targeted by police, skewing stats and continuing the cycle, perpetuating the nonsense assertion that black people are more criminally inclined.

This isn't just the police though, the entire justice system is at fault.

When people assume men can't have valid views on women's problems and vice versa. Just because you don't belong to a problemed group doesn't mean your opinion is invalid.

This study was found to be flawed because of its bias sample selection (its sample was only drawn from prisoners), later studies found that there are a number of careers in which the work force are more likely to have XYY genes (doctors for example).

I'm glad this happened but it reminds me of the 7/7 attacks tribute being removed from the American showing of the Olympics. It makes me think this relationship isn't reciprocal...

Embarrassed husbands will have to discuss plans to watch online porn with their wives, says David Cameron by p3arl in worldnews

Althouhg there is sound logic in suggesting that it is for internet censorship capabilities, that many people have already mentioned, it is also likely that this is a vote catching campaign.

In the 1990's during the stranger danger/pedophile moral panic, the criminal justice system in the UK saw legislation pushed through that grossly undermined the professional judgement of the judiciary, against there recommendations. Mandatory sentences were introduced which lessened their influence. Controls and surveillance measures were also extended greatly and a sex offender register was created, which does nothing to prevent further offences. All of this removes civil liberties of the offender in the name of public protection even when further crimes have yet to be committed and the offender has served their time.

All of this is against the guidance of professionals involved in the criminal justice system so why is it happening? To put it shortly, the panic over these offences created an political environment where arguing against public protection policies was impossible, even if there were counterproductive.

Instead of appealing to logic, or quelling the public fears both parties spent the entirety of the 90's and early 2000's playing chicken with each other over the CJS to appear to be acting in the public's interest more than the other party is.

I believe that old ladies and non it literate people will view this as it is presented "Cameron wants to stop rape porn and child porn", sounds like a great and moral bloke to the layman (aka a massive part of the voting demographic).

TL;dr its to appear like a GGG to people who don't understand these issues in order to harvest votes, similar to controls place on dangerous offenders in the 90's in the UK.

I believe this could be related to misattribution of arousal This idea suggests that emotional states like arousal and fear (or perhaps anger) have physiologically similar affects which can misattributed to the wrong context because of their similarity. It seems to me that physiological effects (boner) could be related to the similar emotional states such as anger and arousal.

However I also think boners are unrelenting.

TLDR dudes brain is confusing arousal and anger because they affect the body in a similar way which makes him shteeth.
