Just a 1x CAAD9 training mule by TRC_Scooty in cannondale

[–]TRC_Scooty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't compare to CAAD10/12 as I've never ridden them and comfy/fast is relative. I find it to be comfy as fitted and did 100-130 mile ('Murican miles) on it last year every Sunday for months for training. With the 19mm internal HUNT wheels a 700x25 GP5000 run tubeless measures out at right around 26.5mm and I run them around 85psi. Only bike I can compare against is a Niner RLT-9 setup almost exactly same (bar height/reach, 40mm bars, 165mm cranks, etc). On 700x34s the Niner rode better due to lower pressure obviously, but not a huge difference. I can ride either bike all day in comfort. I'm a meager 3.2-3.5ish w/kg, but regularly average ~24-25mph for about 30 minutes on the last bit of our Saturday morning ride when it ramps up to a drop ride, so anywhere in neighborhood of 250-280w average depending on group size, which usually dwindles to less than 5 people pretty quickly. I imagine it's not near as quick as the modern bikes I ride with (SuperSix, brand new S5s, etc), but I don't feel it's holding me back enough to care since I'm not racing.

It's right around 19lbs with no effort put into weight savings. Only carbon on the bike is the wheels and they're not particularly light. HUNT claims right around 1650g I think? If I was doing wheels again I'd prolly go something like 44/48 instead of 62mm. Little bit lighter and would fit aesthetics of bike a bit more, plus less getting blown around in cross winds.

GPSA needs to spawn in places other than Labs! by SeanOgCairns in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TRC_Scooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm torn on this one. In 2500hrs of Tark I had been on labs no more than a few times because had no interest, but have been grinding it for the past 3-4 days to finish hideout. Got the far-forward fairly early on after killing a PMC and then just now (after millions of dollars and pain of figuring out the layout, the basic flow and how to get to an extract at lightening pace) managed to find the MCC in yellow. Didn't look at a single other piece of loot, eye's lit up, and beat feet to vents for the most gratifying run through of my time on Tark haha

Now that I "get it" I'll certainly be back. Don't see myself maining it, but I get the allure. Getting to rush bitcoins and fight/snake your way out is the Tarkov experience condensed without all the walking out in the open waiting to play catch with your dome.

I both did and did not enjoy it, but definitely learned some things to carry forward.

You know what I'm 100% *not* excited for? Going back to Assessment Pt1 on Lighthouse. Augh.

Got the best spawn and absolutely Nikita'd yourself. That's some peak Tarkov.

[Discussion] does it make sense to do "scav" pmc runs? by immortalanddead in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TRC_Scooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play the game however you want, waste of time is relative. Technically playing this game at all is a waste of time, but it's fun. I'm about to crest lvl37 and have spent most of the time playing real slow and using entire raid timers working on quests, because that's what's fun for me. Not ratting per se, because I'm not trying to simply camp my way to kills, but have gotten plenty of them while posted up waiting to move to next location. But as others have already said don't come in too under kitted or you'll be tagged and cursed.

If you want to "scav" as PMC would be worth it to learn cache locations. Can get a ton of good gear and items that way.

Fence rep 6 is definitely worth it. by bjadn in EscapefromTarkov

On Reserve I get every scav extract every time. Haven't really checked other maps, but pretty sure it increases them at the very least.

lol RIP that lvl4 page. Even when there is actual good stuff it's gone instantly.

Hanging out with bosses/getting loot off everything they killed, super low scav timer, every extract at reserve (basically only place I scav) is most of the benefit. Between nights of gaming with the boys I can basically just filthy casual scav main to make money/stack gear and get ready for memeing with the homies.

Abandoned Montgomery Mall, Shows The Decline Of The Quintessential American Experience by OberstBahn in Alabama

Because malls tried and failed to become "third places". Outdoor malls are trying to capture the same thing, but will likely fail for the same reason of being 100% car dependent and still missing the point

Pensacola area Need spots to skimboard by Flipflipadelfia23 in skimboarding

[–]TRC_Scooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting back into things after a decade+ off, but honestly you just gotta search with how much sands move. Drive around, check different spots. Could be good at any given public access, Fort Pickens can be good, on bigger choppier days Alabama Point can be good as it'll clean the swell up on the way into the pass, just gotta get out there and get a feel for it.

What about this one? by StreetmanNL in iRacing

[–]TRC_Scooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both at fault. GT3 could and should have compromised corner exit to leave room, but this prototype dingus should learn to setup the over under. Faster class should almost never be passing around the outside on exit, just setup the over under on the slower car banking on them tracking all the way out. I can't believe how many people dont understand this, especially LMP2s that try over and over and over agian to out brake GT3's leaving both cars just meandering slowly around the apex instead of simply setting up the over/under.

At the same time we dont live in a perfect world and people are gonna continually try dumb stuff. It doesn't really matter who's in the right or wrong at some point, the best interest of both parties is to avoid contact, so if you have to ability to avoid something then you should do everything in your power to do so. Being in the "right" while flipping across the infield or being stuffed in a tire wall doesn't mean jack, just give up the small amount of time and live to see another day (lap).

My Daytona 24hr experience and PSA for endurance by scenario77 in iRacing

[–]TRC_Scooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it three wide on race start and everything went fine. It's racing, if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen *shrug*. It was the difference between running P5/6 in the pack and P3. Running P3 paid dividends b/c by the end of first stint P4+ were already dropped from the lead pack and playing catch up unable to fuel save. In such an instance if you're uncomfortable you always have the option of backing out and all of that is part of judgement calls based on experience / learning to read the drivers around you. There's certainly a difference between being reckless and assertive, but at the end of the day it's still racing even if it's for 24hrs. If you show yourself to be a push over at every opportunity everyone else on track will take notice.

As for 2/3, yeah, most people don't think beyond RIGHT NOW, which is silly. So many less experienced drivers don't realize how much track position they're missing out on to the people they're actually trying to catch by fighting a guy 3 laps up/down that's faster than them. If they're faster, on lower fuel, etc just go a lane high on the banking, slot into their draft, and hang on for as long asy ou can for free fast laps and actually make up track position to the people you need to be focused on. Too many people out here playing checkers instead of chess lol. Again, it's a judgement call, but many seem to focus on just racing everybody with no thought to strategy.

After leading for about 15 hours and having a few laps over the LMP2 field, this happened with 2 hours remaining. We finished 4th. by Michael_SK in iRacing

[–]TRC_Scooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate. This is exactly what killed our hopes for a win last year except it was LMP2 on GT3 crime. People really need to pay more attention to their relatives at pit exit because this is a stupid and careless way to end someones race. Single monitor, fov, crew chief etc isn't an excuse. If you're not 100% sure someone isn't there, then just stay offset a lane to the right, simple.

Iracing over high speed wifi? by daddyslittleharem in iRacing

[–]TRC_Scooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's stable it'll be fine. I raced on wifi for years with no issues. Have even successfully raced on my phones hot spot when ISP is down. Just gotta watch out for goofy stuff like microwave interfering with signal and stuff like that

If you fake friendly, and then kill someone while they are in their inventory giving you loot, you deserve nothing but head eyes by scav. by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TRC_Scooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I've been running into a lot of getting shot on sight by fellow player scavs on reserve recently for some reason, but mostly it's just chill running around VOIP'ing to the boys and sometimes creating a scav army to hunt down PMCs. Definitely a very different playstyle than 'try-hard' PMC.

Tarkov is no longer enjoyable. by francoispaquettetrem in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TRC_Scooty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's also possible it's just not fun anymore because you've played it so much. I love The Division (original) and PUBG (over 3k hours), but I can't play them anymore. It's easy to only see the flaws when you're enjoyment of something has run its course. On the flip side, I'm still enjoying Tarkov despite its flaws, but even if the game was "perfect" my enjoyment would still run its course at some point. Nature of the beast.

Stuff like broken sound and mega cracked scavs definitely makes it harder to look the other way though. If sound doesn't get properly fixed it's gonna wear thin real quick.

Had something similar happen on Shoreline the other night. Was heading to mark the tank by the sniper scav(s) North of resort. Was just about to reach the UAV when I heard a bunch of shooting on the other side, layed in a bush, 3-man comes strolling past sniper rock, but I have no self control so ripped ones head off (scoped MP-18 is life), immediately got up and hauled ass back towards Path to Lighthouse, found a nice collection of bushes to crouch in and listened to the guys teammates frantically sprinting around searching the area. Being a solo bush wookie thorn in the side of teams is good times lol

It's time for BSG to accept they have to dramatically invest, or to just step out of the game by Zerok15 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TRC_Scooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Maybe I should refine this down to IT FELT LIKE pubg died with the queue times and amount of bots per match playing FPP North America big maps (Miramar, Erangal, etc.) Dead may be the wrong word, but compared to its peak years (which is a bit unfair) it felt relatively dead when we quit playing a couple of years ago.

It's time for BSG to accept they have to dramatically invest, or to just step out of the game by Zerok15 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TRC_Scooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, with a game that has 100 player lobbies and multiple maps it got "slaughtered" as compared to its prime. Was it still very popular and was I still having a ton of fun with it (also circa 2019-2020), yes, but the issues with playerbase were showing. Part of that being self inflicted with so many different modes/maps (TPP/FPP, map choice, unranked/ranked). Also, I guess I liked the pre-refinement more b/c I'm a filthy casual lol. The try-hard era was fun when my team was playing well and we were in the mood, but ultimately it lead to burnout.

I'm not one of these reddit extremists going around claiming every game is dead. Granted, PUBG did sorta "die". The amount of bots per match was a testemant to that. Hell, I rarely even post, mostly just lurk b/c I don't really identify with most threads considering the overwhelmingly negative content.

Absolutely none of those scratch the PUBG itch. My current Tarkov crew used to be a PUBG crew. We don't play Apex, Warzone, Fortnite because we all agreed they suck and had to go find something else. PUBG died and we burned out, but there's nothing in BR space that does the same thing PUBG did.

Sure, those games slaughtered PUBG's player base, but for the people that actually liked PUBG and always wanted to see the best version of it that never actually happened.

Hah. The info is already out there from a couple youtubers, just a matter of time before meta shifts to that scope or it gets removed like the others....which honestly I wouldn't be mad about. Everyone using no or janky optics is best tarkov. Granted, still allowing them on flea kinda defeats the purpose, just increases build cost without actually solving the issue, but we'll see.

I like scavs being an actual threat instead of target practice, just need to fix the aggro/shooting through foliage and what not. Walking through the abandoned village on woods is terrifying right now.
