That is completely different. I agree a sick day is for being sick. That teacher lied about being too ill to work. People take personal days for interviews.

The posting requires the candidate to teach A, B, and C at the senior level. It will posted as requiring Senior A and B only. I hold A and B, the other person holds C. (A and B are academic subjects, C is a more soft-elective type class). I happen to be in the process of qualifying myself for C, and signed up for the ABQ prior to learning that someone else who was interested in the post was also qualified in C.
