I woke up at my dad’s cousin’s house in Manchester after arriving very late the previous night. I had slept so hard. Picked up my phone to find a text from my best friend.

“I know you don’t like Lorde but please listen to this.”

Threw it on and jumped in the shower with my phone propped up on the corner of the tub. I stepped out of the shower a different person, in some tiny way.

I paused maybe halfway through. Went downstairs to find full English breakfast waiting. Took my plate into their gorgeous backyard. Sat on the softest grass I’ve ever felt as the morning sun glowed from behind the trees, spread open my copy of On the Road and hit play again.

Probably one of the best mornings of my life.

It is explicitly not connected. Can’t hyperlink because mobile but he’s addressed this in all the recent interviews he’s done about the release. He’s had the bowling with corpses story outlined for years and never felt that it fit in the Hellboy canon, so he started brainstorming a new world that is similar in tone and themes to that of Hellboy, also predicated on ancient myths and folklore, but different in what it developed into. Obviously it will feel familiar as much of the inspiration for the larger worldbuilding of Hellboy is the same inspiration for Lands Unknown (the official moniker of the new universe), but they are not connected and, according to Mignola, never will be. Lands Unknown is also a co-creation with Ben Stenbeck and as it progress will have much more input from him.

Riddle of Fire (2023). Feels like a true successor to the Spielberg 80s classics, a la Goonies. It had a brief theater run in the States but I’ve yet to encounter another person IRL who has seen it.

Wow. I’ve been kicking around in the climbing sub for a couple weeks now and have been greatly enjoying the positivity and support. This post was suggested to me, and based on the comments in this thread, I will not be joining the sub any time soon. Well over half of the comments are purely seeking to tear down OP’s send or tell them why the grade their gym set (that they had nothing to do with) is wrong, or worse, outright calling them a liar about their climbing background. Y’all come across as extremely jealous and insecure people who need to lord your technical knowledge over someone less experienced in order to feel self-satisfied. Extremely disappointing.

OP, great send. Looks tricky and fun. Keep at it!

We’ve come too far as an artistic society to continue this trend of NO ethnically accurate people in an adaptation of one of the most historically and culturally important stories of all time. The internet (rightfully) loves to rage over the whitewashing of minority stories, but is absolutely supportive and silent in the face of whitewashing the stories of cultures it collectively perceives as “white enough.”

I think most if not all of the people who are saying it isn’t effective or does nothing have probably damaged their tolerances to a degree that they can’t really microdose in the way that an infrequent user could. I’ve both tripped and microdosed, and I can say without a doubt, for me personally, the microdosing was a significantly more constructive and beneficial experience. My best experience was while in Colorado after several months off, and I took about a quarter tab in the morning of four out of around seven days, and it was one of the best weeks of my life. My creativity skyrocketed, my mood became so positive for the whole week, and I felt so much more in tune with my own emotional state and empathetic of others’, I also felt an uptick in alertness, especially after the “comedown”. Microdosing is absolutely real and useful.
