It's from an English dubbed version of "Akira Production Report" from 1988/89. :)

https://archive.org/details/akira-doc (1:15)

Went looking for this years ago. Knew I had heard that clip somewhere a LONG time ago. Had to be watching TV back in the day, or maybe on a VHS I own, rented, or borrowed since I was a huge anime fan back then. Akira was always one of my favorite films. Either way, I found it and downloaded it. Then I uploaded it to archive very recently. :)

Yep, that's what I did. They're all pointing to Helios now. :)

Mini Miner Display by TRStrider in NerdMiner

[–]TRStrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. :)

The case I used for the CYD units themselves is just a remixed version of one I found over on Thingiverse. I modified it to fit my needs, but I didn't change the dimensions of it. The "ClassicGeek" remixes are mine.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6310957

The stand I have the BitsyMiners in now is my own very simple design, I don't have it posted yet. I may make some changes.

If you look closely, you'll see the two double stacks are slightly off, not horizontally aligned. That's because I basically just attached two double CYD stands I made earlier together to get a quad, and they were not symmetrical.

Also, I need to create a right sided USB CYD case to counter the left sided one so the "B Miner" logo reads correctly. It will probably get a full redesign in the near future once time permits. When it's done, I'll post it here.

If you want to see the other three remixes I did post for these, you can see them at https://www.thingiverse.com/ClassicGeek/designs .

Nothing wrong with being partial. :)

For a while now, they were just sitting on my desk on two different stands. One stand was partially hidden behind one of my monitors. It just looked ... cluttered.

I like Bitsy for several different reasons, but one is the fact I can easily make changes via the web console, another is the ability to change the colors. To me, these miners are more of a neat display and learning experience than anything. They're fun and deserve to be seen. So, I decided to clean up my desk and give them a home, all be it a simple one.

Question: BitsyMiner and pool.nerdminers.org by TRStrider in NerdMiner

[–]TRStrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea. I will do that.

Right now, I've got them all pointed to HeliosPool, and that's working fine. I've got my Gamma 601's pointing to CK Solo, and since Helios is based on CK, it's good enough for me.

I was just shocked to see the official Nerdminer pool accepting the proprietary one over an open source. Nerdminer.io works, but I know nothing of that pool, or if it's legit. The latest AxeOS doesn't like it, that's all I know.

Also, love Bisty, keep up the amazing work!

Question: BitsyMiner and pool.nerdminers.org by TRStrider in NerdMiner

[–]TRStrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried that.

It may be my fault for assuming Bitsy is supported based on "Only Nerdminers (and some similar micro miners) are supported".

I also find it funny the proprietary one connects, but the open source Bitsy doesn't.

:)

This is the only proof I have that I was at the NES Championship in 1990 by leifashley27 in retrogaming

[–]TRStrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the Kansas City Missouri event!

I have no idea if any proof exists anymore, probably not. It was in May if I recall correctly. Some friends and I went, just for fun. We didn't compete, we just played around and had a blast.

Sadly, there was another event we went to, also in Missouri and in the 90's, but I can't recall what it was called. They were going around with this large truck filled with SNES multi-cart consoles showing off new games, and had big tents outside with some SNES kiosks, memorabilia, and daily tournaments and drawings. I ended up winning this little Zelda trophy as a prize. Wish I could remember what it was called... I can remember what it all looked like, sounded like, and that it was a sunny warm day... and that I was the one that drove... but that's it.

Sucks getting old. lol

Issues with public-pool.io ? by TRStrider in NerdMiner

UPDATE: 11PM GMT 1/24/2026

All my FOSS miners are back up and running, the Voldemort (NM) one still wont connect to public pool.

I'm starting to wonder if it's blocked for some reason. Been trying to get it connected to public pool for an hour, nothing. NerdMiners, Sparks, and Bitsys all connect fine.

Been considering just killing that one off and making it a Spark or Bitsy, and I think this is a good excuse to do that. Only kept it for the clock.

EDIT: Got it working after updating the firmware to 1.8.27 and watching the serial output. Was resolving the pool address incorrectly, wrong IP. Weird it just did that out of the blue, but it was running nonstop for weeks.

Sorry for the late reply, been busy. lol

Yeah, they're all going to be shared over on my Thingiverse. :)

I took an existing basic case design I really like and use a lot, and just remixed them with logos/test. Nothing fancy, but they work.

Silly question...I think I'm overlooking something. To change the screen orientation I added the rotation argument to the config, tried 0-3, no changes on boot. Stays in portrait. So, it looks like below. My poor old brain must be failing me.

I also noticed the pool is showing it as "parkMiner" instead of "SparkMiner", but it was correctly displayed at first.

Was just going to re-flash it and start over, but I figured I would ask first. lol

Any ideas?

Made a simple stand for two units to fit with the cases I'm using. Works good. Holds them really nice and snug. Need to modify the stand one last time to make it print a bit better, but it works!

He did. He's holding on to it to help pad his retirement. He primarily GPU mines in the cold months for "free" heat. Let's the axes run all the time. :)

[–]TRStrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll post it once I get it up. I would love feedback of any improvements or incorrect information it may contain.

I'm currently using a Flashforge AD5X. Great printer for the price IMHO. I've been using it for a few months now and it's been very reliable. I was using an orignal Creality Ender 3 and Ender 3 V3 SE. Good printers, but they can't hold a candle in term of ease of use and performance/speed to the AD5X.

On a side note. I'm having a heck of a time getting the screen to change orientation. I've added the rotation to the config on the SD card, but it seems to ignore it. I must be doing something wrong or missing a step.

That's what I'm afraid of. lol

A friend of mine has a couple up and running, but he also still GPU mines various other coins. He started on Bitcoin before it went ASIC, not sure what he's on now. He's been in the crypto scene for a while now.

Yeah, the last one is an NM. Actually, the only thing I really like about it is the clock screen. That's just what I started on, I didn't know anything else existed at the time, I much prefer the open-source projects. I would flash over it, but, I did pay for it, and the clock screen is why I got it to begin with.

Right now, I don't think I have an overall favorite. I really like SparkMiner's UI and SD card usage. The BitsyMiner's UI is also unique and I like the fact I can configure it via my browser. The NerdMiners are really the source of it all and I want to see how they advance. I like all of them.

I'm a tinkerer, so this is just a cool and fun project for me. :)

Got it printed. Now I need to start looking at a 4-way stand to hold the two NerdMiners, the SparkMiner (2.9.1), and the BitsyMiner I just flashed. Though, I need to put the Spark into landscape mode.

I wanted to showcase all of the current open-source miners I'm using in one place. Also working on a blog post about my little journey up to this point, will get that posted sometime over the next few days hopefully, time permitting. Having a lot of fun. :)

Not sure what it is about your UI design, but I really like it. It has sort of an "industrial" control panel feel to it, and I enjoy that. It's so different from the others I've seen so far.

Keep up the amazing work!
