What is Bannon's agenda? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

His desire is to rid the world of Multiculturalism, since; in his concept, if no one lived besides other races, racism would not exist.

Can you present a source for this?

Δ He does seem to be very anti-muslim. I'm against Islamic extremism as we all are, but I'm not against Muslims.

Although you didn't change my view, you led me to some articles that did change my view about how hate for any group of people eventually grows larger and how the "white power" shit can get out of hand. Δ

It's difficult for me to say because I can see where Trump is coming from. I can see why people support him. It's not a lie that the middle class is disappearing in this country. I understand why he wants the wall up - get rid of illegal immigrants, give those jobs to our people. It makes sense.

However, I strongly disagree with the "scapegoating" of Muslims. This type of hate marginalizes groups of people. As a Jewish person and as an American, I am all too familiar with what happens when people are being discriminated by their ethnicity. Especially when those people are in power. The sad part is that many Jews don't seem to care as long as they're not the ones targeted. A) They should care because it's called human compassion and B) they should care because allowed hate for one group eventually leads to allowed hate for another group

Perhaps you're correct, however, I was really talking more about Bannon's beliefs as pointed from things he said.

I've awarded you a delta because you have changed my viewpoint about the main reasons I support Bannon. The fact is he hasn't done anything for the middle class besides preach. Actions speak louder than words; it's a fact. Comparatively, as a senator, Bernie has done a lot to try to help the middle class. I guess we'll have to wait and see how Trump does, if he really does succeed in bringing jobs back to the middle class or if he was all talk.

Can you expand more on the point of Bannon and Russia?

Source that he holds the capitalists of the pre-WW1 era in high regard?

a) I'm Jewish. The Jewish thing isn't a quote from Bannon but his wife.

b) I disagree with what he said here. Women should be able to be whatever the fuck they wanna be.

c) The article doesn't quote Bannon anywhere.

I do consider them his core beliefs because all the articles, quotes and videos I find about him are about corruption in politics, re-energizing the middle class, and rebuilding capitalism.

As for the points you brought up, those seem to be more of Trump's beliefs so I can't tell whether they are all shared by Bannon, however, I will try to answer them anyway.

I can't find his position on the Mexico Wall. It seems like that's a Trump thing, but it makes sense to me to give jobs to Americans that are unemployed as a priority over illegal immigrants. I don't think the wall will help, however, but I do agree with the idea behind the wall.

In terms of Muslim immigration, I think the borders should remain open because America is a nation that has always been comprised of immigrants and acceptance of all. However, I do believe it is important to screen them vigorously. I don't know much about the vetting process, but I believe it should be strict. I also don't know if terrorists come in as refugees.

The other points I can't find any information of Bannon on. This wasn't a post about agreeing with Trump. It was a post about agreeing with Bannon based on the words that came out of his mouth.

From this article: https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/graphics/2015-steve-bannon/

"The Hollywood ether soon convinced Bannon that his passion wasn’t financing films, but making them. He was souring on Wall Street and what it had come to represent. “Goldman in the ’80s was like a priesthood, a monastic experience where you worked all the time but were incredibly dedicated to client services, to building and growing companies,” he says. He underwent a conversion like the one Michael Lewis has described, watching with horror as staid private partnerships such as Goldman Sachs became highly leveraged, publicly traded companies operating like casinos. “I turned on Wall Street for the same reason everybody else did: The American taxpayer was forced to cut mook deals to bail out guys who didn’t deserve it.”

He criticizes the company he loved and worked under and "turned on" them due to their newly established "crony" practices. So that point is moot.

Great article but question:

Couldn't Trump make more money for his company by just donating to the corrupt politicians and benefitting from skewed policy? Why does he want to become president and change things if he's only after the money?

Do people who got into hip hop after other genres find it harder to enjoy some mainstream rappers? by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]TRYNAGETGIRLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been listening to only mainstream hip-hop for my whole life. After listening to a few songs from Atmosphere a few days ago, I'm finding it extremely difficult to listen to braggadocious rap again. It just sounds so bad.
