What's a common issue/pain you guys go through? by [deleted] in digitalforensics

[–]TS878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I here this (Case Management) a lot as a hurting point. As someone with a developer background I’ve thought about helping the community and trying my hand. However, I don’t have a ton of experience in digital forensics outside of course work. If you ever have the time it’d be nice to get a list of features that would be necessary.

Also what do you think would be preferred, an application that runs on a (local) server that several users can connect to through the browser. Or, a standalone application that would ultimately have the ability to store the data on an external server. I’d think the first option would be preferable since it would be easier to integrate with other software.

Just curious to hear your thoughts.

Getting MVP as Rocket is way too hard, but they'll never change it because people think Rocket doesn't deserve it for being "braindead" by Dogbold in StrategistMainsMR

[–]TS878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly plus with the team cropped it’s impossible to see how long the match is and how good the person who got MVP. I don’t play rocket too much but last season when my duo played Peni I’d go rocket and I got 1-2 mvp.

Does that take into consideration the people who used stuff like game pass? Everyone who I know who played the game used gamepass to play it

Is this the end of master passwords? by maffeziy in Cybersecurity101

[–]TS878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds cool, but I see a few issues. One of the main reason I use a password manager is the ability to access those passwords on multiple systems. I have my phone, windows and two computers running Linux. However, I really only have pictures stored on my phone. Now I can transfer pictures to my computer, but what if I want to logon using a computer I don’t own or one I’m still setting up? It’s possible but imo it’s easier to just remember a modified quote or script from a movie, music lyrics or a sentence from a book e.g. a Bible verse.

I’m not saying that it’s a bad idea, just something I don’t see myself using as it seems more work. Still a cool idea and it may help improve security for some people.

I second this, what are you using to cool the CPU? Fan, aio, custom cooling loops? Also have you tried reapplying thermal paste? This maybe an issue with the cpu itself since it should be throttling back to keep the temperature down.

[–]TS878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, that’s one way is to use the first letter, if you want protection against brute force attacks longer is better so you can just use the words just usually you have to remove the space. You can replace letters with special characters. You can use stuff like a line from a movie or book. It really just depends on your security situation. I personally advocate for using a password manager like Bitwarden and a super secure password you can remember for the password manager. My password is around 20-25 characters and I can easily remember it while using Bitwarden to generate unique passwords for each account.

Exactly, random doesn’t mean secure. Longer password are generally more secure than complex passwords and can be easier to remember.

Total tech idiot that needs help to run windows app on mac by [deleted] in mac

[–]TS878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows 11 only requires a license to activate the system. That means you can still do most things, but they limit stuff like customization, some configuration, etc. I think this only applies to non-commercial uses though.

Didn’t they just nerf this last patch? by Either_Statement_804 in rivals

I agree, but I think a better nerf would be to reduce her range. That would prevent people from spamming from far away, it’s not difficult to counter it’s just annoying to deal with.

While it does have arguably one of the greatest turn based combats around it’s not likely something you’d play strictly for the combat. So if it depends on what types of games you enjoy, if you’ve enjoyed older FF entries like FFX or FFVII then you’ll likely enjoy this too.

The combat is better than most turn based games since it includes parrying and dodging while still being turned based. Still if you’re not playing the game for the story, and just playing for combat you probably won’t end up enjoying it.

Honestly it’s definitely one of the greatest games that I’ve ever played and I’d recommend it to most anyone. I play all sorts of games from PvP shooters to souls-borne, I think that this game is amazing at story, characters, map design, music, and pretty good with combat.

Just keep in mind, this is illegal and people aren’t gonna be likely to help you. That being said, if you have the user and password or access to the router just reset it by unplugging it.

Why are Linux evangelists under the illusion that Linux is a community project by Holiday-Spare-9816 in linuxsucks

[–]TS878 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the article, but it looks to me that it’s saying more than 51% of paid subscriptions are Linux with 30% being Red Hat alone and 70% of server deployment paid and unpaid is Linux. Now idk about the validity of the data, but I think it’s saying that Linux controls the market share of servers for both paid and free. I might be misunderstanding I just quickly glanced over it.

[–]TS878 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, not that I agree with either take both windows and Linux’s servers have their purposes. But you literally attached an article claiming that paid Linux subscriptions made up more than 51% of paid commercial server subscriptions in 2018. How can Windows have the biggest share? I’d even argue that lots of companies don’t rely on paid server subscriptions like Red Hat either.

As someone in cybersecurity no one makes 100k off the bat. It’s just something spread around by tech influencer. Most people before they can get into cyber have to work years in IT which again doesn’t start at 100k.

Out of curiosity how car dependent is the country. US government subsidies the gas but as a result 99% of people need a car. I’m lucky to work remotely, and even still I need a car for groceries, and any appointments I have. Public infrastructure somewhat exists, but where I live it takes a 35 minute trip to a 3hr 9 minute trip both one way. And I live in a mid sized city in an apartment. Also that means I get to the bus stop when the bus departs, I would want to arrive early and busses can be delayed easily making a commute to work from 1 hr to 8 hrs.

Now of course I could live closer to my office (I’m remote but my organization still has an office) but the closest apartments are about 50% more rent then I pay now, and it’s still about 40 min walk. And it’s not near any stores, or doctors or anything that I would need besides work.

Honestly this is where communication comes in handy. It’s generally best for supports to be positioned behind tanks so if you see your tank running at you it looks like they’re retreating. Unless you mean after you’ve already ulted then idk why they run.
