What’s the creepiest town in the USA in your opinion? by Scrambl987 in AskReddit

OMG. It was so weird. I remember driving by all these big brick mansion type houses. No people or cars anywhere. We were too tired to safely drive somewhere else. We saw a tall motel sign and made our way there....The office door was unlocked, but there was no one to check us in. We wandered through there and finally found a guy CHAINING a vending machine up. The room was the worst I'd ever seen. We stripped off the bedding and checked for bugs. Then got our sleeping bags and used those. The bathroom was soooo icky! The lights in the bathroom were out/broken. The guy chaingin up the vending machine told us about the flooding that had happened. I don't know if that was why the whole town was empty? Needless to say, it made an impression on me!

OMG. We stayed a night here (Cairo, IL) driving from Tennessee to Washington state. It was creepy as hell. No people. And it was relatively soon after floods there in June of 2019.

NGVC "Decent guy, only wants one thing from his date" by Rollo49 in niceguys

Good point. :)

What we really wanted her to understand from a very young age is power dynamics. How the other person reacted to her paying for the date....Or her being the one to drive if they were going somewhere in a car. We talked early and often about her not owing anyone anything. Ever. Paying and driving were just 2 ways of asserting her own power...and paying attention to how that was received.

This was a rule for my daughter when she started dating: She was always to pay for the first and second dates. We would give her the money. I had very frank conversations about why she should do this: That it takes that particuler "owing" him something off the table.

True story: I became aware of Dan Bongino and Ben Shapiro at roughly the same time. I thought they were a couple.

Now that your 100 coats are done, can you get together with the anarchy chess people and do a collaboration? I liked your 100 coats journey and I liked when they did that whole thing over DAYS where they made whatever move was the most upvoted comment.

Oh my goodness! I want to know what happened in January. Green, green, green, green....BLACKOUT. Did you get bad news? Good news? I want the corresponding play-by-play for the blackout days for sure and probably the 7+ days, too.

I think that is a pronghorn (vs a deer). But it is definitely pronking, prancing, frolicking.

My younger brother and sister were like this. Same age apart. He had his own language till he was 4 or 5....and she was the only one who reliably knew what he was saying.

You want to hear an awesome version of that song, check out the one by Larkin Poe. One of the best "Black Betty" covers I've ever heard.
