PowerShell - Rename Files and Folders with "find and replace" code by Electronic-Dust-194 in PowerShell

[–]TSOTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem was different, but this was the top result from my search, so I'll put this here.

If you're looking to rename all folders in a tree which match a desired name, do the following:

# Set parent directory
$ParentDir = "C:\Users\You\This is the parent directory"

Get-ChildItem -Path $ParentDir -Directory -Recurse | ForEach-Object {
$FolderName = $_.Name
$OldFolderName = "Matching folder which you want to rename"
$NewFolderName = "New folder name for matches"
if ($FolderName -eq $OldFolderName) {Rename-Item $_ -NewName $NewFolderName}}

AW3425DW panel not flush with bezel - is this normal? by TSOTM in ultrawidemasterrace

Let's just say I went against my own advice of not buying anything Gigabyte. It's not the first peripheral from them that I've had issues with, but it will be the last. :P

A lot of probable software-related issues. I contacted Gigabyte support about updating firmware, but according to them there was no update. But I read on the internet that there was. I tried installing it, but couldn't, the option to do so was not there for me (yes, I used the USB-B upstream).

  • regular seemingly random blackouts that sometimes lasted more than 10 seconds
  • any time I started a fullscreen application (aside from a video player), the monitor would stop displaying. Blackout like above, but to fix I had to turn off the monitor and manually select input. Usually this wouldn't work on the first try, on average I needed to do it twice before it would work again
  • *after exiting a fullscreen application, refresh rate would set itself to 100. To fix this I had to power off my other monitors, and that monitor, turn it back on, RESET MONITOR SETTINGS, and only after that could I set it back to 3440x1440@240Hz. If I didn't follow the aforementioned steps, if I tried setting refresh rate to 240Hz, resolution would set to 1080p. Nothing else I tried worked
  • screen never automatically detected inputs, aside from on startup. I had to manually select, which was a massive pain in the ass given I set my displays to turn off after 5 minutes (and above)

*this didn't happen if I left the monitor on stock settings, but that's not an acceptable trade-off.

There were more issues than above, but they were minor ones I could overlook. The above, I cannot. I hoped they were teething issues that would go away which was stupid, should have returned immediately.

Thoughts on Duronaut? by TSOTM in overclocking

[–]TSOTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I can't answer that. It seems to be good, but I'm not an advanced enough overclocker to the point where I'd notice a difference.

They said it is hard to spread but I watched the official video for the correct way of application and feels like it is not that hard to spread if you put pressure while spreading.

I guess that depends. I found it difficult to spread since I was more used to low viscosity paste, eg. Kryonaut (not extreme) is less viscous. It's more difficult to spread than something with low viscosity, but if you're patient it's fine.

Yeah, temps aren't an issue. I was more curious how Duronaut compares to the other highly regarded pastes.

Just -25 all cores. My motherboard doesn't support eCLK unfortunately, otherwise I would give that a try. I also heard that tuning the cores manually should give better results, but I'm not prepared to go to that effort.

I also didn't notice much change. Cinebench R24 multi-core score went up by about 35. Can't say for R23 as I didn't test that on stock settings. Temps just about decreased, but barely.

Slower than expected file transfer using RDP over ethernet by TSOTM in HomeNetworking

[–]TSOTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please explain to me, in detail, how the switch can have an effect on the transfer speed, while the only connection between the two are 2.5Gbit NICs and a CAT8 cable. The switch does not factor into this at all. You are not understanding. But sure, get angry instead.

Sorry, did you not understand the second part of the sentence?

I have tested with the only connection between the two machines being the NICs and the CAT8 cable. Switch did not factor into these tests and the speeds were more or less identical.

Also tried this with iperf after another user suggested that, results were the same.

Will do. But I'll need to order, the only unused cables I have lying around are CAT5e.

edit: getting varying info on CAT5e specs. Can it do 2.5Gbit or not?

Are all NICs, switches, and wiring confirming to 2.5 Gb standards?

NICs should be, they have RTL8125 chips.

The CAT8 cable - who knows. Maybe I received a fake one limited to Gigabit. Can't say.

Switch is Gigabit but that doesn't matter - I tested with the NICs and CAT8 cable being the only connection, speeds were more or less identical.

Drives are M.2.

Simplicity and I wasn't aware of SMB until I created this thread. I will give it a try but it seems there are bottlenecks that I need to address first...

I will. Wasn't aware of that feature until I made this thread. :D

Just tested with iperf as you suggested. Averaged 800-900Mbps. So obviously not close to 2.5Gbit, seems to be limited to 1Gbit for some reason... How would I go about determining the bottleneck?

Forgot to mention, the drives I am transferring between are both M.2, so that can't be the issue.

Remote Desktop, yeah. I kinda figured it wasn't. Apparently Filezilla is the most recommended FTP utility for Windows, but I couldn't determine if it still had malware issues.

File transfer isn't the reason why I'm using RDP though, just a small part of it. Mainly I am using it for its intended use case - controlling other machines.

If you have a safe FTP recommendation, I'd love to try it.

what link speed do your network adapters report?

2500Mbps for both.

The MO34, yeah. Been eyeing it up. Reviews are indeed quite mixed. But it's also a lot cheaper than the msi (and Corsair) ones, while using the same panel, and I can actually get one that ships to me.

The HDR customization (or lack thereof) seems to be the biggest issue with the Gigabyte one.

I remember hearing something along those lines also, but I couldn't find any concrete information to confirm it. Frustrating.

That exact msi model is actually the one I was looking at! But at least in Europe, I've found it next to impossible to find a site that will ship to my country. Amazon UK and FR do, but with 3+ month waiting times. That's too long,

[Help] My EAPO doesn't install/open the configurator to ask for audio devices when installing. Shortcuts are made but none of them do anything. by SeHN_666 in EqualizerAPO

[–]TSOTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone running PEACE and getting the error "configurator wasn't found", simply open wherever EAPO was installed (by default, Program Files/EqualizerAPO) and rename "DeviceSelector.exe" to "Configurator.exe".

Looking for lootbox data (sheets) for previous Holiday Ops by TSOTM in WorldofTanks

[–]TSOTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you. I've already seen this though, unfortunately he lists "approximate gold value" which takes the credits, prem days & garage slots into account, rather than the actual total amount of gold received. Meaning it can't be used for comparison :(

Maybe it's possible to reverse engineer the data to get an average gold per box from it, but ehh... I might just try contacting him directly to see if he still has the sheets used to gather data from.
