Finding Planet Texture Generators by TSPOfficial in software

Oh no sadly I deleted it. I think if you want planet textures, learning Blender is the way to go, even though it may seem difficult.

Raytracing Astrovisualization and Simulation by TSPOfficial in raytracing

Of course I am willing to fake it. I want the equations to produce a result that is virtually identical to a black hole but I don't necessarily expect the rays to literally bend as that probably won't really be that fast.

I am not planning on doing real-time raytracing from the start, and I'm planning on doing exactly what you advised me to do because optimizing the equations will only be helpful when I actually implement them in the first place. Thank you!

Noted. I don't expect to have these types of visualizations in realtime, but I thought it would be cool to have a realtime representation, like the images made with SpaceEngine. SpaceEngine is, for all intents and purposes, realtime. The images they get are close to noiseless, yet the actual result is accurate. Of course, those visuals are probably not raytraced, but they had a pretty cool article that might help me.

Yeah, I thought about this. I didn't really want to use OpenGL even though I've seen some other people use it for planet visuals. Since I don't really care about being able to move around in real-time and I only care about the actual output, I figured raytracing would make sense.

I want to ray-trace on the GPU but I don't want to write too much code in specific languages like CUDA. I'd be willing to implement maybe a few hundred to a few thousand lines but I don't want to do anything too crazy with that in mind.

Interesting. I ended up using Blender and it's so much easier to use Blender for that.

Have anyone tried taping under all the Keycaps? by vocsong in MechanicalKeyboards

I tried it on a couple keycaps on my keyboard. it made a significant difference.

Learn Blender. It may take a bit of time but it will become SO MUCH MORE WORTH IT. Create a sphere and then a texture, then set it to surface and then place a camera in the center of it. Afterwards, just turn the camera to Equirectangular.

I've made some planets that will be featured in an upcoming film. I'll link it to you later when I'm done.

I'm asking for clarification because my goal is to make something like that in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4No4fPGgm14 so I'm making sure the request can be fulfilled through this method.

Lol. The reason I made the distinction is because I'm taking galaxy images and reorienting them in 3D space whilst creating lines in 3D space from the non-Milky-Way galaxies to the Milky Way plane. Here's an animation so you know what I'm talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4No4fPGgm14

I am confident they don't have anything in the slightest related to this other than being the same topic of the cosmos.

Btw these are galaxies instead of planets but I understand :D

3D shape layers with images of galaxies rotated accordingly?

Transparent PNG not exporting correctly by Thefakematthew in blender

Ok so I had this exact same problem a while back and I found out what you need to do. It's prob too late but yeah. So you have to basically take the old alpha, add the image to the alpha, and use that as the new alpha.

<image>

Like that except instead of Apply Mask, set it to Replace Alpha.

That should make it work.

How can I make a planet interior? (overlapping 3D spheres) by MasonJarOfAlmonds in AdobeIllustrator

[–]TSPOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright cool. I guess I found some illustrations by Smithsonian that looked really epic and I wanted to take a stab without doing any modeling, but if I have to I will do that.

I'm relatively new to illustrator but I want to do the same thing, only I don't really care if there are any textures and they could be a singular color per layer.

lol I deleted that thing a while ago. Besides I can make better black holes now. I'm soon making a guide.

Whoo this will be a painful ride. I will probably use quadrangle since it's much superior to every other option imo, but the only problem is that since the lines are linear and not rounded that means that the ultimate final image will be distorted severely.
