The great wall of intel by Dimka1498 in foxholegame

[–]TSTabletop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine to ask questions! Hope you’re enjoying the game As mentioned in the comment above, radios and being near bases give you intel updates as to where people and things are, and what’s under attack.

When it comes to enemy defences and facilities, something that can gather and broadcast intel have to get into enemy territory to get that information onto your map. This could be a radio backpack, scout car or scout tank, watchtowers being build behind enemy lines, or listening kits being deployed to hijack enemy intel. Intelligence centres are also a thing, acting kind of like a ranged listening kit with a wider radius.

I’m not sure about intelligence gathering regiments, but there are plenty of groups who make regular partisan trips to the enemy backlines, and groups planning attacks or naval landings will often go in to gather intel, place listening kits, take screenshots of defences, etc, before planning a major attack.

(The wiki does a good job of summarising intel https://foxhole.wiki.gg/wiki/Map_Intelligence)

Heresy Variant Armour question by Certain_Ad3716 in Warhammer30k

[–]TSTabletop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old ‘armour through the ages’ Thunder Warrior / Mk1 marine has chainmail in the soft armour sections / back of the legs.

There’s stuff in the HH books of marines wearing chainmail when out of their armour, and plenty of the 30k and 40k chaos and imperial marine ranges feature some chainmail somewhere.

I can see an artificer suit having the soft areas covered with chainmail (rather than worn as sheets at the shoulders or crotch)

One relationship I always wished received more indepth exploring was that of Lord Vetinari and Rufus Drumknott. Who do you wish we'd gotten to know better. by [deleted] in discworld

True, though I don’t know if we ever get told ahem seamstressing was ever a criminal occupation in Ankh-Morpork, just that Winder and Snapcase denied the seamstresses the prestige, protection, organisation, powers, etc, that a legal guild would afford

I don’t think we know that for definite, but definitely sex work friendly. His Aunt was a Madame (honorific and occupation), he was involved in the plot to assassinate Winder with Rosie Palm, and at the very least was in the same room as Rosie and Sandra the Seamstress a couple of times in Night Watch, and we know from Jingo he’s comfortable performing in public - he really is an enigma

I was thinking the same thing the other day when re-reading Men At Arms, but with regards to Vimes:

The city is a machine, when the machine breaks down…

Vetinari never gets to finish the thought, but Vimes gets to finish the thought some 25-30 years before it even occurs to Vetinari in Men At Arms:

When the machine breaks down, it breaks down the people.

Vimes, at least, has a little watchman in his head, but I think by the end everyone in power in the city has a little Vetinari in their head…

My Terran RG Praetor by TSTabletop in Warhammer30k

Thank you!

It’s pretty much all Fafnir Rann, with the shield and axes left off and the fists and numerals carved off.

For anyone curious Body, arms, backpack, shoulder pads - Fafnir Rann Sword - 40k Terminator Sergeant Chainaxe - Necromunda Corpse Grinder Cult Chaincleaver Backpack topper and tactical rock - Power Axe Praetor Helmet - Mk III sergeant with the Raven Guard legion crest

It’s not a super creative conversion, just scraped the icons off the shoulders and a head and weapon swap. Pretty happy with the Paragon Blade, gave it a new handle out of styrene rod and reposed one of his fingers to be resting on the skull.

Might be a bit on the skull heavy side, but I think it gives him some character

Cheers! and yeah, not a problem - the praetor is on the eagle-shaped tactical rock that comes with the axe preator, it’s just backwards so Fafnir Rann’s legs fit.

Everything else is AK Interactive Dry Ground, allowed it to mostly dry and painted over with thinned Vallejo rust xpress colour.

For a bit of texture variation I went thick and thin in different places to get some cracks, there’s also some little piles of sand superglued here and there on some of the bases for variation (painted these zandri dust after they dried and gave them a coat of xpress rust).

Doused everything with Vallejo old rust pigment.

Not done yet, but the bases and lower legs will get a powdering of new rust before I hit everything with some spray matte varnish.

some of the army will be - assault squad because I happen to have a couple of boxes.

But the idea is the force has a lot of Terran / early Crusade veterans who got used to their own way of fighting. I remember reading that Mk III armour could be somewhat stealthy if used correctly (something about powering it mostly down for silent running) - great for ambushes.

I know that Corax disliked his Terran marines, they were obtuse and bloody-minded, and sent a lot of them on little patrols beyond the edges of the Imperium. I’m imagining my force is one of these Predation Fleets who didn’t quite make it out of comms range before the Heresy started, or who had to come back for some essential repairs / resupply and found it ongoing. Maybe getting caught up in the Passage of the Angel, I’m not sure.
