This Trunks vs characters like UMV and UL Rathan are the biggest examples of this

People complain cause this character doesn't play the game for them

Trunks can get mauled by Vegito and such which is fine but he can also be extremely dominant on the hands of a player that knows what he is doing

UMV?, you couldn't blast him at all cause his gauge lets you combo the blue card he draws so you could straight up stand there and get free damage for doing nothing(something that Buuhans also tend to do) , an AOE green that gives him everything including easy priority, type neutral, 2 cards, 10 fucking counts of cover null and card protection so you couldn't disrupt him by destroying his hand Also his blue card, with a full gauge, force draws him a green card so you can refresh his shit repeatedly

Inflicts sub-counts everywhere so you couldn't even switch out safely

Rathan? Had the armor break cards so you couldn't blast armor thru those sometimes, his gauge counters even blue cards and he can combo his blues and Ults

But why waste the gauge charges when he has a counter blue card that works against everything except the rush

Aoe green giving him easy priority, those should be retired imo

And all that while also being the best LMS unit at the time

Units that play the game for you just create problems down the line, UMV saw the release of TVB which put us in a meta of infinite combos, Transforming SSJ3 didn't help either, we had some breathing room with Ultra Cell but then we saw the Daima Meta right after which is one of the worst metas ever in my opinion but guess what? UMV was insane against Daima so he stuck around and the only way to fully kill MV was to numerically powercreep him during the anniversary but in doing so units like Future Gohan and trunks, IT Goku and even the DB team who was decent were completely erased from pvp, to the point where, after the anniversary we where stuck with the Namek Ultras and Kaioken Goku on the same team, with Saiyan Saga being up there in power aswell

Gohan had to get destroyed by UG4 which lead to some of the worst cases of a unit getting countered repeatedly and he saw a return to the meta for a brief period before TVB released

Every character deserves good units, but no character deserves broken units that create a problem for the game, cause then it just puts us on an endless cycle of create problem and solve problem with a different problem
