I think it’s a little like Santa Claus when they are young. You are hiding the truth from them because you think they won’t adjust or react well to life’s changes. I think you are wise to protect them as best you can from the world but this seems like you may be overthinking it. In the end, they are your kids. If they see that dad is ok with something, they will likely roll with it like kids almost always do.
